Chapter 705 Berlin Crisis Negotiations
“If the Italian Republican Communist Party of France can be willing to be understanding of the work of Britain in the present time, this is really a great success.” Alan Wilson listened and immediately dispatched a horse’s ass for Prime Minister Adderley’s work, “Of course the long term free world goal is for the Italian Republican French Communist Party to be able to move on to parliamentary struggles, and once that long term goal is achieved, Europe will be safe.”
Allen Wilson is by no means in disguise, outside of a certain intervention in the Korean War presence. Italian Republican French Communist Party as a powerful political party of the old imperialist countries, in the international influence among the second only to the Soviet Communist Party, especially the weight of the Italian Communist Party, but can be in the field of thought and the Soviet Communist Party face-to-face negotiations.
In fact, if you look at the coat of arms of the Italian Republic, you can see the influence of the Italian Communist Party on Italy in this era, and the center of the Italian coat of arms is a five-pointed star. Behind the five-pointed star is a large cogwheel, symbolizing the laborer; the cogwheel is surrounded by an olive branch, symbolizing peace, and an oak branch, symbolizing strength and dignity. The red ribbon at the bottom reads “Italian Republic” in Italian.
The elements of the coat of arms are characteristic of a socialist state, and Article 1 of the Italian Constitution states that Italy is a democratic republic based on labor. Sovereignty belongs to the people. The people exercise sovereignty in the form and within the limits set by the Constitution.
Now that there was an intentional Republican-French Communist understanding, the negotiations between Britain and the Soviet Union were much easier.
“Honorable Prime Minister, from the order of carrying the coffin at the funeral, we know that the most authoritative Soviet leaders today are, Malinkov, Beria and Molotov, and after conferring with colleagues, it was jointly decided after discussion that it would be most appropriate to place the main target on Beria.”
Nodding his head approvingly, Adderley had to say that this overseas commissioner idea coincided with his own.
Making this kind of suggestion, Alan Wilson certainly had his own reasoning, one of the charges for which Beria was purged was that he expressed an attitude of backing down on the issue of Germany.
Although the idea of having all four countries, Britain, France, the United States and the Soviet Union, withdraw from Germany, even if the Soviet Union agreed, the United States, Britain and France would not agree. But this was not delayed in becoming one of Beria’s charges.
After meeting with the leaders of the Italian and French Communists, the British side began to prepare for the negotiation of the Berlin Crisis and the Korean War in earnest, as for whether Beria’s future crimes will have an additional one, as a loyal British citizen, Alan Wilson naturally does not care.
Maybe in a few years it will also be shot in the middle of the movie, the movie hinted at how the UK, showing a hundred years of the Empire’s diplomatic skills, led to the death of Belial. Isn’t the so-called soft power more than who dares to blow it?
The British Prime Minister’s secret talks with the leaders of the Italian and French Communists, in Moscow, the capital of the Soviet Union, can hardly be called secret at all.
This makes the current trio of the Soviet Union, Malinkov, Beria and Molotov very difficult to treat the brotherhood of parties in Western European countries, absolutely can not be the same as the Eastern European countries, especially in the face of the Italian Communist Party and the French Communist Party, to pull together.
“If the British have convinced the French and Italians, there is no doubt that we must show sincerity in solving the problem!” Malinkov, as the top-ranking leader of the Soviet Union today, first expressed his opinion.
“Will it be considered a sign of weakness to the imperialists?” Molotov immediately expressed his dissent, “At this critical moment, it won’t be perceived as a sign of weakness in front of the fraternal parties again, will it?”
“The view of the fraternal parties, it depends on how it is viewed? If the Soviet Union does not respond to this British show of goodwill. How Comrades Togliatti and Dolores, and the Italian and Republican French Communists behind the two comrades, will see it may be even more fatal than the already entrenched fraternal parties in Eastern Europe.”
Beria was still on Malinkov’s side, and his statement had indicated the outcome of the discussion. Two of today’s Soviet triumvirate already had an agreement, and the other could only follow the majority.
In the days immediately following Stalin’s death, there was a place for Khrushchev in the collective leadership of the Soviet Union. But from a practical point of view, Khrushchev’s opinion was also inconsequential, and the matter was settled.
On March 12, the Soviet side held a grand welcoming ceremony at the Kremlin to show the importance it attached to the British visit. Prime Minister Eardley naturally gave a warm response.
At the same time both Britain and the Soviet Union were releasing messages in unison that the two countries were going to exchange views on the important issues of the Berlin Crisis and the Korean War.
The European countries which had been puzzled by Prime Minister Eardley’s trip to the Soviet Union were at once not sleepy when they heard the news.
Both issues were important. Quite a few European countries were the ones who sent troops to participate in the Korean War, and it would be more than good for these countries if they could get the attitude of the Soviet Union.
As for the Berlin Crisis it was even more important, if that war in the Far East was not considered a priority. Then the Berlin Crisis, which has lasted for such a long time, will make the neighboring countries sleepless for a day if it is not solved.
“The message to the country should not be hidden, but let all Europe know know that Britain’s efforts to de-escalate the situation.” The British Embassy in Moscow in the Soviet Union, Alan Wilson through the Embassy and Whitehall in London to contact, but also to report on the current progress.
Things must be open channels to be known by all, otherwise secret communication is no good for Britain, which is now already relatively weak. And the secret operation of this kind of thing is bound to be accompanied by a betrayal, and now the UK has no more chips in hand to sell.
The current choice of openness is all a reference to the latter-day Sleeping King’s face-to-face buildup with the Great Emperor in Geneva.
The differences are also there, the relative strength of the United States is still much stronger than the current British. The similarities are more; both the latter-day United States and the current Britain are at a stage where the problems are really big, but pretending that they are not a bit of a problem.
In the Age of the Sleeping King, any discerning nation can see that America’s financial bomb may explode at some point. Russia under the Great Emperor is certainly suffering from the blockade, but it has reached the point where the debt is too much. America’s cards are already very limited!
And now if Adderley wanted to achieve a relatively favorable outcome, he had to take the initiative while the present Soviet leadership was just getting on its feet.
Thus, Britain, in the midst of the great expectations of the European countries, and in the mindset of the U.S., which was quite critical, openly campaigned and negotiated with the Soviet leadership, in Moscow, the political center of the Soviet Union, and with dozens of Soviets who stood on the side of the fraternal parties.
“We need to emphasize in particular the presence of dozens of fraternal Soviet parties in Moscow right now.”
Alan Wilson did not forget in the end to find a way to clear the air for Prime Minister Adderley once nothing really came of it. Don’t let Congressman Churchill, who is crazy about returning to Downing Street, catch on.
Even if there is no difficulty, but also to create difficulty, not to mention that it would have been difficult, if there are dozens of pro-Soviet parties in the case of Moscow, no results can be said that Prime Minister Aidley is in spite of the defeat.
Having done everything, Alan Wilson left the British Embassy in the Soviet Union to fulfill the duties of his own entourage.
Although they did not anticipate the kidnapping of British public opinion this hand, Malinkov and others attended the negotiations in the Kremlin as scheduled, according to the previous plan.
“Why do I feel that I’ve just been scanned a few times.” Alan Wilson muttered in his heart, not knowing where this feeling came from.
Meanwhile, sitting across from him, Beria’s gaze under his lenses was as if it had never moved.
The issue of the Korean War was far less important than the Berlin Crisis, and Britain had only expressed its concerns about the Korean War afterward. Then it focused its attention on the solution of the Berlin crisis.
“We all know that the cause of the Berlin Crisis lies in the formation of NATO, a military alliance that threatened the Soviet Union.” Beria pushed up his glasses and spoke in an unhurried manner, “The responsibility is not on the Soviet Union, I wonder what explanation Britain has for this?”
“It is pointless to attribute blame now.” The Prime Minister was still relatively thin-skinned, Alan Wilson put down the pen in his hand and said, “We can’t go back to the past, furthermore, even if the responsibility does not lie with the Soviet Union, it doesn’t lie with Britain either. As I’m sure you all know, the people directly responsible are still fighting in the Far East.”
Alan Wilson used a rather accomplished set of blame-shifting words to brush aside Britain’s responsibility.
“Since the United States, Britain and France are responsible, they must share the blame. The garrison in West Berlin should be withdrawn.” Molotov righteously said, “That is the way to solve the problem.”
“Dear Mr. Molotov, if it were that easy, the matter would have been settled long ago. It’s the Americans who don’t want to retreat.” Alan Wilson once again bluntly pointed out that the United States was the Soviet Union’s opponent in the Berlin Crisis, while softening his attitude, “As of today, the Berlin Crisis has been going on for so long. The Soviet Union’s objectives have been achieved, the Berlin Wall has enclosed West Berlin, and there is no longer any point in prohibiting ground routes. West Berlin is already almost an empty city, with all the people running away. Air capacity can’t reach the depletion either, so why can’t we just give all the countries a step down on this?”
Seeing that the Soviet leader across the table was still thinking, Alan Wilson spoke up, “This is a time of reconciliation, let’s look to the future and seek common ground, there is no point in fierce confrontation, right now, the whole world is looking at the new leadership of the Soviet Union, whether or not to pay attention to the concerns of the whole world. For this reason our Prime Minister has shown the utmost sincerity by coming to Moscow himself.”
Long sentences as if chanting kept coming out of his mouth, and Alan Wilson had the look of a man who stood in the light with a clear conscience.
This would have been the truth, except for the law whining strange words of the United States, at least the European countries are watching this negotiation. Needless to say, all must be hoping for a good outcome.
“The world hopes that the new leadership of the Soviet Union, will answer the call for peace from the whole world.” Prime Minister Adderley made a sad face and said with a look of anxiety, “Both Britain and the Soviet Union are responsible for world peace.”
