A+ A- Turn Off Light

How long had it been since Turing had been out of the Woomera launch site, unaware that the Imperial Commissioner, who had never looked out for the greater good, had lied to him shamelessly, and how could public opinion be as breezy and light as Alan Wilson made it out to be?

Britain alone left a dark moment, right a Battle of Britain air war adjectives, even Dunkirk can play a positive role.

The UK does this, not to mention the US, and relevantly irrelevant, politicians, academics, lawyers, all have to key in a political two cents for this.

Most people see in the success of the Soviet Union the cosmic significance it contains: the Roman Empire controlled the world because it was good at building roads, then people moved to the sea and the British Empire became the ruler because it had ships. Now the Reds have established a foothold in outer space.

Does this mean that even if we launch a better satellite into space next year, it won’t be reassuring. Americans will periodically agonize over why the U.S. has become weak.

The press has been awakened to the fact that the United States has always prided itself on its technological capabilities, its scientific and technological prowess, and on being the first to achieve something, says Time magazine. Now, no matter how many plausible explanations were offered, the entire nation was plunged into a sudden and deep disappointment, and Americans were robbed of their luster by this red moon.

The Sputnik moment had huge repercussions, and as the fervor of discussion among the various keystone politicians became more widespread, the more deeply Soviet technology was understood, and in turn the more the United States became apprehensive.

The Soviet technological filter just got thicker and thicker in the discussions of the key politicians, and success was success, especially in contrast to the earlier failed attempts by the US to launch satellites, and the Soviet space and missile prowess, which was exaggerated to no end.

The first round of the Space Race, in which the United States had indisputably failed, went from a mindset of being ahead of any nation in any technology, with only God in mind, to a mindset of what the Soviet Union was going to do.

The USSR managed to briefly take the place of God in the minds of American citizens. The Pope had a few divisions of words that were partially realized in this moment.

All of this was unknown to Turing, who had never been out of the Woomera launch site, and in order to take the pressure off of the British researchers at the launch site, Alan Wilson didn’t reveal a single word, instead pulling from the east and drawing from Prime Minister Cao’s ten victories and ten defeats theory to give confidence to the British aerospace elites at the launch site.

“In fact, in a sense, we face less difficulty than the Soviet Union, whose launch site is in Kazakhstan, which is a high latitude, whereas the Vumela site is close to the equator, and our launches will have some help.”

The easiest way to launch an orbiting satellite is to aim for an eastward launch along the equator, which takes advantage of the Earth’s rotation to accelerate it, and it was because of the Soviet Union’s geographic disadvantage that the U.S. lamented the Soviet Union’s technology, the disparity in the foundations led to the fact that the Soviet Union had to outperform the U.S. technologically to be able to do the same thing.

Keep in mind that before the Soviet Union’s first Sputnik took to the skies, the United States actually attempted to launch it twice, but both times it failed.

The U.S. mentally never thought the Soviet Union would succeed, but the Soviet Union did succeed.

“Gentlemen, even if you send a potato into the sky, with our advantage in public opinion, we can make it stand shoulder to shoulder with Sputnik in terms of significance, and above all, keep a level head.”

The words didn’t go over well, but the heads of the launch site, including Turing, appreciated that Alan Wilson meant well. It must also be appreciated that, for better or worse, the Mountbatten Group had donated money.

Washington, D.C., Allen Wilson’s best friend in the United States, McCarthy, is in the midst of some questioning lately, when a certain comedian, who formerly made a huge impact in the United States, perishes in Europe in an accidental car crash after the release of the King of New York movie.

Some talk suggests that this was the work of the CIA, and further suspicion is cast on McCarthy himself.

This complete and utter unmitigated disaster infuriated McCarthy, who of course knew that Chaplin had made a movie that was a satire of himself, but the dwarf’s death had nothing to do with him.

Chaplin’s death sparked a major reaction in Europe before the Soviet Union launched its first Sputnik. Especially in Britain, McCarthy corresponded with his best friend and complained about being treated with suspicion.

Alan Wilson consoled his American friend with a letter stating that accidents always come unannounced.

The fact that Chaplin’s death was an accident does not preclude the Soviets from smearing you as an anti-Soviet fighter.

“My old friend Joseph, the Soviet Union, with the help of the launch of the first artificial satellite, called the Moscow Conference. Even if it is not in Europe, dozens of political parties spread across various countries, assembled together, makes one feel powerful pressure. Needless to say, the two events together were a huge demonstration, but the sad fact is that we had little recourse.”

“There are times when I am very envious of your circumstances; you are a politician and I am just an administrative official. It is impossible to say anything about the country’s general policy, even if I have prepared a series of plans, but I can’t fact because of some of the problems that exist in the UK right now, which is envied in the United States.”

The almost mealy-mouthed bragging once again reminded McCarthy of Alan Wilson’s dry image, and muttered to himself, “Alan’s helpless now, isn’t he, if only he were an American.”

“Perhaps my program of catching up can only be accomplished by the U.S. Britain is no longer the Sunset Empire it was then. To deal with the threat of the Soviet bloc, the entire country must be mobilized to deal with it. These programs, which Britain cannot implement, may help.”

Alan Wilson, already a sophisticated bureaucrat, telegraphed a public-private partnership? Oh no, several ideas for joint public-private cross-border organizations.

The tone of Allen Wilson’s voice, after this paragraph, shifted to one of hatred and lack of opportunity to serve his country, making even McCarthy realize the good intentions of his old friend.

“Now the whole world is paying attention to the race in the field of space, if anyone can bravely face it, there is no doubt that will become the hero of the free world, it seems that our prime minister at this age, seems to be unwilling to face such a challenge.”

“Ai!” McCarthy couldn’t help but sigh, saddened by the status quo of Allen Wilson wanting to resist, but Britain being coy with the Soviet Union, it seems that the free world still needs to be saved by the United States.

Suddenly McCarthy, as if remembering something, turned on the TV show for this time of day, just in time for a news report, and intermittent words came over the news that the United States had once again failed in its satellite launch today.

Emergency launch, is the United States in the Soviet Union’s first artificial satellite in the sky after the response, hate every rocket, the Americans now want to cram in an artificial satellite, in case of success, is not to level the distance with the Soviet Union?

“I should do something?” McCarthy muttered, as if he had made up his mind of some sort.

On December 4, exactly two months after the Soviet Union’s first Sputnik took to the skies, the U.S. Senate convened to debate an additional budget on aerospace.

In the midst of the Senate, young Senator John F. Kennedy, the young senator from Massachusetts, lashed out at the Republican administration, accusing it of national security failures and holding in his hands a report of a scientist’s fall from grace, “What is it about our scientists that makes them despair of the United States, and I think it’s that the entire United States of America has lost the United States of America’s The spirit of struggle since the founding of our country.”

With that, Republicans and Democrats entered into a heated argument, trading accusations.

“In fact, Senator Kennedy’s words are not unreasonable, we have to bravely face the technological competition from the Soviet Union, bickering will not solve the problem.” McCarthy, as the Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, spoke up at this time, “Pay it forward, not bicker in the hallowed halls of Congress.”

“I believe that!” McCarthy took out the document he had prepared and scanned the bipartisan senators present, “The United States is still a country that is ahead of its rivals in terms of scientific and technological prowess, and all that is lacking now is a sense of crisis, and in the face of difficulties, the spirit of struggle that has existed in the United States since the founding of the country is the key to victory in the face of scientific and technological competition.”

As a politician, McCarthy finally let others know on this occasion that he would not only only only be anti-Soviet, but would also be anti-Soviet from a higher level, “I’ve already discussed a proposal with a number of honorable members of Congress, with the President and the Secretary of State two days ago. Now it needs to be consulted in Congress with the opposition parties.”

John F. Kennedy also stopped his diatribe to listen to what the anti-Soviet sign was going to say, and McCarthy then laid out his own, but no one knew it was a plan that originated from the British side of the influence.

“Responding to Soviet technological competition requires the support of the nation’s forces and equally the creativity of our entrepreneurs.”

This time, in Congress, McCarthy proposed the creation of an executive agency responsible for developing and implementing the U.S. space program and conducting research in aeronautical science-cum-space science, with the inclusion of the public and the private sector in the unfolding of the space program.

The Senate then entered into a discussion, and a few hours later, President Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act and endorsed McCarthy’s proposal to establish the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA for short.

On the same day, a satellite launch from the Woomera launch site did not reach its intended orbit, and Alan Wilson was reassuring the frustrated researchers, “It just didn’t go into its intended orbit, and we’ve always got something.”

A little later in the day, Allen Wilson, feeling partially successful, learned of the creation of NASA in the United States. And it was McCarthy who made it happen, “Americans, nowadays, should consider Joseph a hero, right?”

Allen Wilson was happy that his friend’s proposal was passed, he was right up McCarthy’s alley, there was no doubt about it.

From this day on, mention NASA and McCarthy’s name was a sure way to get around it.
