Chapter 0883 – Red
The top floor of the experimental building was the closest place to the sky, and likewise the place where one could reach out and touch another world.
The originally normal campus had begun to experience mutations, as more and more students transformed into blood and turned into ugly monsters.
They wailed in the once peaceful campus, accustomed to the beautiful, they could never have imagined that they had suffered something so painful.
For every second that the blood-red mirror that enveloped the ghost school existed, several of the blood filaments crumbled, and the memories contained in the blood filaments disappeared, the last traces of the owner of the memories in this world erased.
The Painter’s East and West Campus was undergoing an irreversible collapse, and as the owner of the East and West Campus, the Painter was currently standing on the top floor of the laboratory building.
He picked up the broken drawing board, and as his palm lifted up, black and red blood surfaced on top of the board.
”You want to kill me?” Chang Wenyu sat on the edge of the building with her legs dangling in the air, “You have gained the recognition of half of the students in the Ghost School, but there is still the other half of the students whose will you can’t control, kill me, and the school’s will will be completely swallowed up by that city.”
”I have never killed anyone, but many have died because of me, and I record their last looks on a drawing board, which I occasionally take out to admire at my leisure.” The painter grasped the corner of the drawing board, his pale fingers dipping into the undried blood on it, and he didn’t seem to care what Chang Wenyu said at all, just muttering to himself, saying what he wanted to say.
”You’ve never killed anyone?” Chang Wenyu crossed her legs and stretched her arms, “You can always find a reason for what you do, and that’s what I hate most about you.”
The smell of blood on the roof of the lab building grew heavier as Chang Wen Yu stood up, a blood red flame burning under her eyes, “Do you know why I ended up coming back when I had clearly escaped from this school?”
The painter shook his head gently.
”I saw some of the children’s families outside the door, they were guarding the unconscious children and had been waiting for them to come home.” Chang Wenyu stood at the edge of the building, the reflection of the blood-red world above her head, and the school district of things that were crumbling into blood at her feet, “But I knew it would never come to pass, the door bound them, and what appeared to be salvation was in reality nothing more than sending them into deeper despair.”
Her long dark hair was blown by the blood red wind, Chang Wenyu’s right eye pulsed with red light while black blood oozed from the socket of her gouged out left eye, “That’s why I’ve come back, I can’t save all of the children here, all I can do is to destroy the door, bury all of you, and then keep our story from repeating itself with the rest of the world.”
Bit by bit, blood flowers bloomed on her tunic, and the expression on Chang Wenyu’s face grew more and more frantic, “Do whatever it takes to destroy this place.”
”Can you do that? Losing the approval of the Ghost School’s will will make you weaker and weaker, and what you learn in this school will eventually be returned to it.” The painter’s flat tone was as if he was just asking if the other person had eaten breakfast.
”I don’t need to be recognized by the will of the Ghost School, as long as someone in this school recognizes me, that’s enough.” The atmosphere at the top of the laboratory building was getting tense, and Chang Wenyu was ready to fight the painter.
”It’s good to have your own ideas, but why did you lure the ghosts from that city?” The painter’s gaze skipped over Chang Wenyu and looked towards the blood-colored city outside the Ghost School, “Competing for the recognition of the Ghost School’s will to become the new Gate Pusher, this is between us, so why do you need to drag them along with you? Could it be that you are still afraid of me?”
”I know you won’t make the same mistake again, so I only have this one chance to completely destroy this place before you become the new Gate Pusher.”
”Destroying the doors of the school; drawing in the ghosts of the Scarlet City; contacting all the Redcoats who have defied me and who also possess the qualifications to become a Gate Pusher; is that all you have planned?” The artist’s hand moved gently on the panel, “I’m actually curious about how you managed to open the main door of the school; all the stern ghosts would be suppressed by the will of the ghost school, and no one would be able to get close to that door; that should be the only thing I didn’t think of.”
”Knightly ghosts will be targeted, but not necessarily the living.” Chang Wenyu wiped the black blood that flowed out of her left eye socket, “I found the left eye of the door pusher in the ghost school, I had been hiding outside the door all these years just to wait for this day, the ghost school door was ultimately pushed open by him, and only his eye could deceive the ghost school’s will, so I had a living person take the door pusher’s left eye, and pushed the ghost school’s main door open by a slit. ”
The blood flowers on Chang Wenyu’s tunic were blooming as this top red coat was revealing her true form. However, it seemed that because she was in the middle of the east-west campus constructed by the painter, she was being fully suppressed at the moment, and the aura on her body was suddenly strong and weak.
”I spent years making this graveyard into a paradise, and you spent years thinking about how to destroy everything.” Painter sighed slowly, “It seems that I really can’t expect anything from you, and trying to focus on doing my own thing will only shut you up forever.”
”Stop lying to yourself, no one can make heaven, what you whitewash is just hell.” Chang Wenyu stood closest to the sky, her tunic turning almost completely red, “Painter, from the first time I saw you, I knew that the school’s will would surely recognize you, because you’re the only one in this school who still believes that behind the door isn’t a cage of despair. It just didn’t occur to me that one day you would be able to do this, almost on the verge of succeeding in controlling everything.”
The painter didn’t reply this time, his pale fingers moving across the panel.
”What are you doing?” Chang Wenyu’s tunic was just shy of turning completely red where her heart was.
”I’m painting.” The painter raised the broken drawing board in his hand, “I like to draw what they look like before they die.”
On that broken board, a woman in red was painted, one of her eyes scarlet as blood, the other gouged out with only a pitch-black hole.
”What kind of death do you think she likes?”
The artist stabbed the heart of the woman in the painting with a finger dipped in blood, and Chang Wenyu, who was standing at the edge of the building, leaned back at the same time, a crazy laugh escaping her lips.
”And for what reason do you think I’m deliberately stalling?”
In the midst of her laughter, Chang Wenyu transformed into a flower of blood as her body shattered into countless threads of blood, leaving in the air only a tunic that was dyed red in all places except for the location of her heart.
”Knowing my ability, so you hid your heart in advance?” The painter looked at Chang Wenyu on the drawing board, “She lost her body, but consumed one of my drawings ……”
The painter didn’t bother to look at the bloody clothes in the air again, but instead looked towards the Ghost Correcting Gate, where a new threat was coming out of the blood-red city amidst the thick blood mist.
