Chapter 3 Knocking on the Door
Back in his room, Lin Qiye closed the door.
He didn’t turn on the lights.
It was already late at night, a bit of starlight outside the window spilled onto the floor, and in the dark room, Lin Qiye sat in front of his desk and slowly removed the black satin on his eyes.
In the mirror on the desk, a handsome young man’s face was reflected.
Lin Qiye was very good looking, if he took off the black satin over his eyes and tended to it a little bit, with that inexplicable high coldness and ethereal temperament, he was definitely a school grass level handsome boy.
It was a pity that his perennial black satin wrapped around his eyes, coupled with his disabled status, completely obscured his radiance.
In the mirror, Lin Qiye’s eyes were closed.
His brows were slightly furrowed, and the eyelids covering his eyes fluttered, as if he was trying hard to open his eyes, even his hands clenched their fists with force.
One second, two seconds, three seconds ……
His body trembled for a long time before he finally couldn’t bear it and suddenly loosened up, panting heavily.
A few drops of sweat crossed Lin Qiye’s cheeks, and an anger surfaced between his brows.
Almost …… just a little bit!
Why is it that every time, it’s that close?
When would he be able to open his eyes again and see the world for himself?
He lied when he said he could see now.
His eyes, he couldn t open them at all, he couldn t even open a slit.
But again, he didn’t lie.
Because even with his eyes closed, he could clearly “see” everything around him.
This feeling is very wonderful, as if he has grown eyes all over his body, able to perceive everything in all directions without dead angle, and see more clearly than the original eyes, farther.
At first he was unable to do so, in those five years when he first became blind, he was no different from the rest of the truly blind, and could only use his voice and the guide stick in his hand to perceive the world.
But for some reason, starting five years ago, his eyes seemed to show some changes, and he, himself, was able to begin to initially perceive his surroundings.
At first, only a few centimeters in front of his body, and then with the growth of time, he could “see” further and further, more and more clear, five years later now, he can “see” the range has reached ten meters.
If a normal person can only see ten meters, then his eyes are basically wasted, but for a teenager who has lost his sight, this ten meters means everything.
The most crucial thing was that the ten meters he could “see” was ten meters without any obstacles.
In other words, in the Lin Qiye ten-meter radius, he has absolute vision, vulgarly speaking, he can see through, but to a higher level, he can see every grain of dust in the air, see every part of the machinery inside, see the magician under the table of every small action ……
And the source of this ability seems to be the eyes that have been tightly closed for ten years underneath that black satin.
Although he had this almost supernatural power, Lin Qiye was still not satisfied, being able to have an absolute field of vision of ten meters was good, but he wanted to use his own eyes even more to see the world for himself.
This was a teenager’s obsession.
Although he failed to open his eyes today, he could clearly feel ……
that it wasn’t far from truly opening his eyes.
After washing up, Lin Qiye went to bed early and prepared to sleep as usual, so many years of living as a blind man wasn’t all bad, at least he had developed the good habit of going to bed early.
But laying down on the bed, subconsciously, that image surfaced in his mind again.
Under the dark cosmic dome, the dead surface of the moon, the grayish-white earth reflecting the bleak starlight, in the center of the highest, largest lunar crater, stood a figure that looked like a statue.
The figure stood there quietly, as if it had existed since the beginning of time, the sacred golden light bloomed, the divine might, enough to make all creatures prostrate themselves on the ground.
Behind his back, six exaggeratedly large feathered wings spread out, covering the sun’s rays cast down from behind, leaving huge shadows on the silver-gray earth.
And what was truly burned into Lin Qiye’s mind and lingered was His pair of eyes.
Those eyes that were full of divine might and burned like a furnace were as piercing as the sun at close range!
He saw those eyes, and in just a moment, his world was left with nothing but blackness.
Ten years ago, he told the truth, only to be diagnosed as mentally ill.
But he knew best in his heart what was real and what was delusion.
Since he has seen the blazing angel on the moon, he knows that this world …… is never as simple as it seems.
Slowly, Lin Qiye fell into a deep sleep.
What he did not know was that the moment he entered the dreamland, in the dark room, two strands of bright golden aura shot out from the slits of his eyes and flashed away.
Da, da, da ……
In the world of mists, Lin Qiye walked alone.
The mist around him tumbled and seemed endless, and it was clear that he was walking in the middle of nothingness, but every time Lin Qiye landed on his feet, it made a crisp crashing sound, as if there was an invisible ground underneath his feet.
Lin Qiye looked down at his body and sighed.
”It’s this dream again …… knocking on the door every night, it’s tiring okay?” Lin Qiye shook his head helplessly and took a step forward.
In the next moment, the surrounding mist rolled back and a modern building with a weird style appeared in front of Lin Qiye.
The reason it was said to be weird was because it was clearly a modern style building, but it was filled with a mysterious aura when it came to certain details.
For example, the large iron gate carved with roaming gods, for example, the electric lights that looked like burning fireballs, for example, the carved tiles that floated under the feet ……
It was like mixing modern architectural styles with those temple elements from ancient mythology, incongruous, yet with an ineffable beauty.
This kind of building, Lin Qiye recognized and looked very familiar.
It was extremely similar to the Sunshine Psychiatric Hospital where he had lived for a year before, and the strongest proof of this was that where the words “Sunshine Psychiatric Hospital” were originally written at the entrance, it had turned into another line. The most powerful evidence is that where the words “Sunshine Mental Hospital” used to be written at the entrance, it has become another line.
”Inexplicable place.” Lin Qiye shook his head and stepped forward, walking right in front of the large iron gate.
Five years ago, it wasn’t only his body that suddenly started to change, but also his dreams.
For five years, every night he would have the same dream, and the protagonist of these dreams was this mysterious Asylum of the Gods.
It was just that the doors of this mental hospital were always closed and could not be opened no matter what.
Lin Qiye had circled around the mental hospital countless times, and there was only one entrance, the large iron gate on the front, and although the surrounding walls weren’t too high, the most outrageous thing was that every time Lin Qiye jumped up, the height of that wall would grow with it.
As for brute force …… even if Lin Qiye’s entire body crashed apart, that big iron door wouldn’t even move a bit.
There seemed to be only one way to enter.
Knocking on the door.
Lin Qiye grabbed the ring on the large iron door, took a deep breath, and heavily tapped on the surface of the iron door.
Clang-!
A sound like the buzzing of an ancient bell echoed through the mental hospital, and the large iron door proper shook and swayed, not opening.
Clang–!
Another click, and the iron door still didn’t open.
Lin Qiye didn’t seem surprised or annoyed by this and very patiently continued to knock.
These five years he has deeply realized the rules of this dream, in addition to knocking on the door, any other means can not open the big iron door, and in this dream, he can not seem to do anything else but knock on the door …….
It was good that in the dream realm, he would not get tired, otherwise his body would have been exhausted long ago.
So, Lin Qiye was like a hard working laborer, diligently knocking on the door for another night ……
