Chapter 79
Thompson looked at Luke, “You’re in the wrong place, there’s no party here.”
Andrew reminded his father, “He’s Chubby’s brother.”
Thompson raised his chin, “Oh, the family’s all here, there’s strength in numbers.
Uh huh, I’m not afraid of you guys.”
Luke ignored him, “Jack, what’s going on?”
“Yesterday after I got out of school, Ander came after me again and offered to beat me up. But he’s a piece of shit and I beat him up instead.”
Luke patted his brother on the shoulder, “Good job.”
“WHAT? “Hearing Luke’s words, Thompson grew more and more disgruntled and questioned Linda, “Is this how you homeschool? My son was beaten up and he still said it was a good job. This matter is not over, I will pursue to the end.”
Luke lit a cigarette and took a drag, “How do you want to pursue this? Tell me.”
Thompson glared at Luke, “Are you Little Fatty’s guardian? What qualifications do you have to talk to me.”
Luke handed him a cigarette, “I’m here to solve a problem, I don’t want to get into a confrontation with you.”
Thompson refused Luke’s cigarette, “What I just said is very clear, compensate my son’s medical expenses and moral damage, in addition to making Little Fatty apologize to my son, and, not to appear within a hundred meters around my son.”
Luke said, “It’s normal for them to have a conflict at this age, it’s hard to tell who’s right and who’s wrong, it’s fine for adults to say a few words, is it necessary to be so serious?”
“It’s necessary, I will never allow someone to beat up my son.”
“Maybe it’s your son who bullies others?”
“No, my son wouldn’t do anything like that, and look at their faces, isn’t it obvious enough? As a father, my son got his ass kicked, there has to be justice.”
Luke looked at Andrew and then at the little fat man, and he had to say that the little fat man was indeed brave enough to beat Andrew up this time.
“Andrew, don’t you have anything you want to say?”
Andrew glared at Luke, “It was Little Fatty who hit me first.”
“I don’t know which one of you started it this time, but last time, I witnessed you hit Jack first, shouldn’t you apologize to him first.”
Andrew denied, “No, I never hit him on my own accord.”
Luke said, “You’re lying.”
Thompson stepped in front of his son, “Hey, do you have proof? Don’t accuse my son out of thin air or you’ll have to watch out.”
Luke walked over to the Harley and took off the trip recorder on it, “This thing doesn’t lie.”
Luke flipped out the video of the last fight between Fatty and Andrew and showed it to the crowd.
Andrew’s face immediately changed.
Linda saw the video for the first time, and saw her little son being mounted and beaten, revealing an angry look, “It was clearly Andrew who was beating my son, and you have the nerve to ask for compensation, what a shameless bastard.
Get out of my yard, Now!”
Thompson showed an embarrassed look and gave his son a hard stare, “Come home with me.”
Luke reached out to block the other man, “It’s not over yet.”
“What do you want?”
“Apologize.”
“WHAT?”
“Apologize to my brother.”
“OK, I’ll admit that Andrew hit your brother last time, but this time your brother hit Andrew as well, two clear.”
“You’re right, the fight is cleared.
But Andrew lied, he started the fight, but he turned around and slandered my brother, how does that matter?”
Thompson shoved his son, “Look what you did.”
Knowing that his father would no longer take sides, Andrew said somewhat reluctantly, “SORRY, I was wrong to lie.”
“Let’s go.” Thompson grabbed his son’s shirt to leave.
“STOP,” Luke stopped him, “You need to apologize too.”
Thompson was disgruntled, “Why should I apologize?”
“Your son lied, and instead of just harboring him, you shamelessly demanded compensation and blamed my mother’s parenting style.
It is you, not my mother, who has a problem with the way of education.
You must apologize.”
Hearing her eldest son say this, Linda felt the anger she had been holding in her heart dissipate.
It wasn’t easy for a single mom to raise two children.
Her son had grown up and could stand up for himself.
This feeling …… was very good.
Thompson crossed his arms, “I don’t want trouble, we’re adults, it’s over.”
Luke rolled up his sleeves, “It’s not up to you whether it’s over or not. If you don’t apologize, I’m going to beat you up.”
Thompson looked over at Linda, “Ma’am, don’t you think you should say something?”
Linda laughed, “Do what he says and he’ll really beat you up.”
“I don’t want any trouble and I’m not afraid of it.” Thompson struck a pose like I’m not to be messed with either.
Luke took off his coat, gave his brother his pistol and badge for safekeeping, and waved at Thompson, “Then cut the crap and Come on.”
Thompson gulped, LAPDs were not to be messed with, and LAPDs with their badges off were even less to be messed with.
“Hey, I don’t want to get my hands dirty in front of the kids, it’s a false demonstration. This incident is indeed what Andrew did wrong, as a father has the obligation to educate him ……”
Thompson looked aside to Linda, “SORRY, it’s my fault, I didn’t educate Andrew.”
“Keep him away from my son.” Linda dropped the sentence and turned to go back to the house.
Thompson, who never dared to meet Luke’s eyes, slunk away with his son in his dust.
“Hey, old man, did you see that? He wimped out!” The little fat man had an excited look on his face.
Luke displayed the biceps on his right arm, “I didn’t practice for nothing.”
Little Fatty revealed a look of adoration, “Will you still teach me today?”
“Sure, as long as mom doesn’t heart her lawn.”
The following morning.
Detective Bureau.
Luke is smoking a cigarette downstairs at the Detective Bureau.
A white Toyota pulls into the station and a woman in her twenties steps out of the driver’s side.
The woman hesitated when she saw Luke, “Officer Luke.”
“Hi, Sophia. Did you come to the station for something?”
“Yes, about my father.”
Luke put out his cigarette, “You know all about it?”
Sophia nodded, “I …… am here to bring him in to turn himself in.”
Luke knew he had misunderstood, “Lawn?”
“My father is in the car, he’s here to turn himself in voluntarily.”
“GOOD, take me to him.”
Luke walked over to the car and Lawn volunteered to open the door and step out, looking much better than last time.
“Dad, this is Officer Luke, he’s the one investigating your case.”
“Officer Luke, I’m turning myself in. sorry for the trouble.”
“Follow me.” Luke led the father and daughter up to the Detective Bureau building.
“Knock knock ……”
Luke knocked on the office door before leading the two into the office.
The people in the office looked to the door.
Luke walked in first and Marcus grinned his thick lips, “You had to knock ……”
Before he could finish the second half of his sentence, Marcus’ eyes widened, “F***ing hell, Luke, didn’t you go out for a smoke? How did you get Lawn back.”
Luke smiled, “Mr. Lawn came to turn himself in.”
The crowd had various expressions.
The lieutenant stood up, “Mr. Lawn, please follow me to the lounge. Jenny, get the captain.”
Luke followed along into the lounge.
The lieutenant turned on the law enforcement recorder, “Lawn, you can talk, why did you turn yourself in?”
Lawn sighed softly, “Many years ago, I did something wrong, illegally taking someone else’s property, and I feel very guilty about it. I came here to set things straight and atone for my sins.”
“You’re talking about the ‘Telson Manor Disappearance’?”
“Yes.”
“Describe the crime and your accomplices.”
Lawn mused long and hard, and related the events of the year ……
