Sister, you are really worrying, no, thinking really meticulously! Klein was energized by what he heard, and immediately laughed:

”Melissa, your concern is very reasonable, I am indeed still a bit hungry, well, I’ll go up first to change my clothes and take a shower.”

Although he was already swallowing quietly, confirming the whereabouts of “instigator” Tris was more important!

Who knows if this guy will go even crazier next and take revenge on society!

”Uh-huh.” Melissa didn’t look up, continuing her studies.

Stomping around, Klein darted to the second floor and entered the bedroom.

He unlocked the door to his room, took off his jacket, removed his underarm gun pouch, and pulled a plain silver pocketknife from within a drawer.

After sealing the room with a wall of spirituality, he took a breath, steadied himself, and took four steps counterclockwise.

Accompanied by incantations such as “Blessed Beings” and other incantations, Klein, who had grown accustomed to the insane ravings that tore at his spirit, once again appeared in the majestic palace above the gray mist.

Having used the ritual several times today, he pinched his temples in slight exhaustion, causing a tawny parchment to appear on top of the long bronze table.

Klein thought carefully and wrote down the divination statement with deliberation:

  ”The whereabouts of Tris.”

He wasn’t sure the name was correct, but had the specific physical features and details of the other person as a guide.

Taking the piece of parchment, Klein leaned back against the back of his chair, first recalling Tris-related events within his mind, then silently reciting the divination statement seven times.

He emptied his mind, closed his eyes, and with the aid of meditation, quickly entered the dream world.

In a foggy, unreal scene, he saw the front of a steam train spewing smoke and sparks, side-by-side leather seats, and a clean, tidy carriage.

Tris, with her rounder face, narrow eyes, and gentle sweetness, was sitting in the window seat, and on the table in front of her was a hat with a fine lattice of black veil inlaid around the edge.

Klein discerned it carefully and tried to identify the car, but none of them could be seen.

It wasn’t long before he could hardly bear to exit the dream, his eyes reflecting the old drab bronze table and the illusory crimson stars.

”Can only determine that Tris is leaving Tingen on a steam train, there are no more clues …… hey, it seems that this mysterious space is mainly to help me remove the interference, and the improvement of my own divination level is not exaggerated …… “Klein tapped the edge of the table with his fingers and pondered over his next move.

Through this divination, he completely confirmed that the target was the former “instigator” Tris, but in the case that the other party had already fled Tingen, he did not feel that the results of the earlier could better help Dunn.

”The captain has already said to send telegrams to Birkeland, to the port of Enmart, to the main stations along the railroad, the whole country wanted Tris …… I will not go to report the results of this divination, so as not to be suspected …… “Crane made a quick decision, for with or without his reminder, Dunn was laying out the follow-up in the most correct manner.

And in the case of dream divination where you can’t see the number of cars clearly, switching to methods such as spirit pendulums won’t yield valid results, even if you use means of sequential elimination.

A similar situation included the matter of the red chimney.

At this point, he felt a spiritual emptiness and did not stay too long above the gray mist, wrapping himself spiritually and simulating the experience of falling.

By the time he “returned” to the room, his mind was full of greasy lamb chops.

”Must sprinkle some cumin …… Praise the Goddess!” Klein swallowed hard, winded up disarming the wall of spirituality, and pulled open the door to his room.

  ……

At 8:40 the next day, he entered Blackthorn Security, carrying his cane.

”Good morning, Klein, good news!” Roxanne, behind the reception desk, waved her hand excitedly.

Klein’s eyes lit up as he said:

  ”Caught Tris?”

”Tris? Who is she?” Roxanne, wearing a long pale green dress, looked puzzled.

”…… You don’t have to know her, what’s the good news?” Klein digressed.

Roxanne replied with a wide smile:

”The captain’s application was approved, and the police department will be transferring two officers who have been exposed to transcendental events to work as civilians! I finally won’t have to stay up late as often, praise the Goddess!”

”That’s great news ……,” Klein concurred sincerely.

After exchanging a few pleasantries with Roxanne, he passed through the partition and made his way to the underground, intending to continue his occult lessons.

Passing by the captain’s office and the night watchman’s recreation room, he probed a few times and found that Dunn, Leonard and the others were there, which indicated that last night’s search and elimination didn’t yield good results, and the next step would be to hand over to the police department for the tedious follow-up.

Originally, Klein wanted to talk to the captain for a few minutes to grasp the latest situation, but seeing that he was busy writing manuscripts and shooting telegrams, he had to retreat silently, not to bother, ready to ask again at noon.

He followed the flight of steps into the subterranean, saw the two rows of elegant gas lamps surrounded by a metal grille, the glow through the glass and the silent, cold, unchanging corridors.

Breathing in the refreshingly chilly breeze, Klein took a few steps and suddenly stopped.

He jerked his gaze to those gas lamps and his brow grew furrowed.

He realized he had made a common sense mistake!

For there was a mistake that only Earth common sense could make!

In his divination last night above the gray mist, Klein had seen Tris riding away on a steam train, and had subconsciously judged that to be what was happening.

But, but, but, no one in this world had yet invented electric light, invented a similar device, and steam trains carrying people hardly ever ran after dark, and this was instinctively overlooked by Klein, who was accustomed to seeing green trains running at night!

In other words, that was not last night!

That was a picture of the future he foresaw!

That was what was going to happen today or tomorrow by daylight!

With a tightening of his heart, Klein paced back and forth a few times and stomped back upstairs.

He knocked on the door to the rec room and saw Leonard standing by the window reciting poetry with a look of helplessness on his face.

Ignoring Kornleigh, Loyal, and Siga Teang, who were playing cards, Klein looked over at Leonard and said:

  ”I have questions for you.”

”Do you want to learn tips on how to amuse the ladies and ladies?” Leonard put down the Selected Poems of Roselle and flirted.

He walked out of the rec room and followed Klein to the middle of the steps leading down to the ground, staring into the other man’s eyes and speaking with a soft smile:

”Looks like you had a fruitful divination last night.”

  Without explanation, Klein said directly:

”I divined that Tris traveled far away on a steam train.”

After yesterday’s communication at the West End Home for the Poor, he no longer minded showing a little “special” in front of Leonard.

”The steam train, the earliest one is at seven o’clock ……” Leonard took out his pocket-watch, which he kept in his shirt-pocket, and snapped it open to look at it; “there can be no delay! I will tell the captain that I have received a reliable intelligence.”

He walked quickly up the stairs and straight out of Blackthorn Security, spending a few minutes downstairs before reentering and entering Dunn-Smith’s office.

Crane breathed a sigh of relief and watched as the poker-playing night watchmen were summoned and hurried out the door after the captain who had sent another telegram.

Reflecting on what had just happened, he had rather mixed feelings, unlike the Tuxedo Joker’s death which had given him a wake-up call, this time a mistake of a similar nature had happened to himself, which seemed to have taught him a great deal more, and the lesson was even more profound.

Turning toward the weapons vault and entering the guard’s room, he familiarly removed his hat and coat and hung them on the coat rack.

Old Neil had just finished tossing his hand-ground coffee, and sipped it prettily:

  ”Want a cup?”

”Sure.” Klein sat down, as comfortable as if he were home.

Old Neil glanced at him and muttered:

”Or three sugars and a spoonful of milk? You’re such a sweet tooth, it’s bad for your teeth and your health.”

”No, no, no, I just have a sweet tooth when it comes to coffee, and when it comes to frying steaks and grilling meats, I’m more inclined to seasonings like rose salt, black pepper flakes and cumin.” Klein had always considered himself a full-flavored party.

Old Neil quickly made the coffee and pushed it over saying:

”Should we take a break, or just get started?”

”Let me calm down for a few minutes, the captain and the others have information on Tris’s whereabouts and are on their way to the steam train station, so I don’t know what to expect ……,” Klein sighed.

  Old Neil tsked:

”Is the intel detailed? Sure which class it is?”

”No, not sure.” Klein pursed his lips and said.

Old Neil laughed at once: “In this case, the probability of not succeeding is much higher than the possibility of success, Tris should have Sequence 7, extraordinary people of this class are not so easy to catch, huh, don’t think of relying on divination, divination is not omnipotent, you will only get symbols, and accidentally interpret them wrongly or overlook something. ”

Klein once again thought back to the mistake he made this time, and nodded his head from the bottom of his heart as he listened with deep emotion:

  ”Yeah, divination isn’t everything.”

After saying this, he let out a sigh, and his body and mind suddenly entered some kind of marvelous state, so he leaned back slightly and tried to exhale, but at that moment, the sound of an illusory shattering suddenly rang in his ears.

He was stunned to realize that something within his body seemed to be dissolving, fusing with his own spirit.

It was a unique feeling that was hard to describe, and Klein half-closed his eyes, quietly experiencing it.

Without needing to be reminded, he knew it was a sign of the Diviner’s magic potion being thoroughly digested.

  ……

The first town that the Tasok River flowed through after passing through the city of Tingen was called Vinia, and it was also the first steam train stop that led to Berkland after leaving Tingen.

On top of the platform, Tris had changed into a long, beige dress and wore a round-brimmed lady’s hat, with a fine lattice of black veil hanging down from the brim, covering most of her face and making her features hazy and difficult to recognize.

She had telegraphed to her companions in Tingen to warn each other to be careful of late, and had herself, with the property she had stolen from her house, purchased a ticket for the steam train to Birkeland.

The reason why she had not boarded the train from Tingen station, but had drifted downriver to the town of Vinia, was that Tris still had her assassin’s instincts and her vast experience.

  Whoop!

At the sound of a sharp and long whistle, the steel train as tall as a monster spewed smoke with a hint of sparks and stopped beside the platform.

Tris didn’t carry any luggage and boarded the first-class carriage directly, meanwhile, she decided to get off immediately after three stops and go to Becklander in another way instead.

  ……

Underneath the ground of St. Selene’s Church, Klein closed his eyes and leaned back against the back of his chair.

He felt the complete digestion of the magic potion, and vaguely saw one illusory star after another, stars that were inexplicably connected to himself and seemed to want to come together and become one.

After an indescribable feeling of hunger and thirst subsided, Klein returned to normal, with no additional epiphanies.

But the spirit was much easier and purer …… He opened his eyes and added wordlessly.

At this moment, he knew that he was already a true and complete “Diviner”.
