Part 1 The Joker Chapter 137 Silver City
Silver City, Morgue Hall.
Derek stood in front of the steps, his eyes glowing red as he looked ahead at his parents, who lay in two separate coffins.
A simple, silver-colored straight sword was stuck in the stone slab in front of him, a straight sword that shook slightly in the thunder that shook the house from time to time.
The Bergs within the coffin were not yet truly dead; they struggled to keep their eyes open, panting weakly and violently at times, but to some, the luster of their lives had dimmed irrepressibly, irreversibly.
”Derek, do it!” An old man in black robes and a stiff cane looked over at the teenager, whose face was nearly twisted, and said in a deep voice.
”No, no, no!” The tan-haired Derek shook his head continuously, taking a step back with each word, and in the end, letting out a scream like tearing his heart and cracking his lungs.
Thud!
The old man mortared his cane and said:
”Do you want the entire city to martyr your parents?”
”You should know very well that we are the people of darkness abandoned by the gods, and can only live in this place full of curses, and all the dead will turn into horrifying evil spirits, which will be difficult to reverse no matter what methods are used, except, except for people with the same bloodline to end their lives with their own hands!”
”Why? Why?” Derek asked, shaking his head in bewilderment and despair, “Why is it that the people of our Silver City are destined to commit patricide and matricide right after birth ……”
That old man closed his eyes, seemingly remembering what he had experienced in the past, “…… This is our destiny, this is the curse we carry, this is the will of the gods ……”
”Draw your sword, Derek, as a sign of respect for your parents.”
”After that, when you have calmed down, you can try to become a God’s Blood Warrior.”
The Berg in the coffin tried to speak, but after his chest rose and fell a few times, he could only make a ho-ho-ho sound.
Derek took a hard step, returned to the side of the silver straight sword, and tremblingly extended his right hand.
The cold touch reached his brain, reminding him at once of the blood ice his father had brought back from his hunting trips, where a mere palm-sized piece would cool the room for days.
His eyes flashed to the stern father who taught swordsmanship, the kind father who patted the dust on his back, the gentle mother who mended clothes, the brave mother who stood in front of him when facing the mutated monsters, and the image of the family gathered around, sharing food over the flickering candlelight ……
Woo …… He let out a sound in his throat that was suppressed to the extreme and low, and his right hand violently exerted force and drew his straight sword.
Stomp!
With his head buried in his hands, he rushed forward, raised his straight sword high, and stuck it down heavily.
Ah! In a painful scream, blood splashed out, splashing onto Derek’s face and into his eyes.
With a bright red in his vision, he drew up his straight sword and plunged it again into the coffin next to him.
The sharp metal penetrated the flesh and Derek let go, staggering to his feet.
Without bothering to look inside the two coffins, he stumbled out of the morgue as if chased by an evil spirit, his hands clenched, his teeth clenched hard, and the blood red washed out of his face.
”Hey ……,” sighed the old man who was watching all this.
A stone pillar was erected on the streets of the City of Silver, and above it hung lanterns with unburned candles inside.
The sky here had no sun, no moon, no stars, only unchanging darkness and lightning that tore through everything.
By the light of the lightning, the people of the Silver City traveled the dimly lit roads, and the few hours each day when the lightning subsided were considered by them to be the true night of legend, when the candles were needed to illuminate the city, dispel the darkness, and ward off the monsters.
Derek walked through the streets with his eyes glazed over, not even bothering to think about where his destination was, but as he walked, he found himself back in front of his house.
Pulling out his key, he unlocked the padlock and pushed the door to his room, he saw everything familiar, but he didn’t hear his mother’s concerned voice or encounter his father’s scolding of him for wandering off, the house was empty and cold.
Derek clenched his teeth once more and walked quickly back to his room, rummaging once more for the crystal ball that his father said was used by a long-destroyed city-state to sacrifice to its gods.
He fell to his knees and faced that crystal ball without much hope and prayed, agonizingly:
”O Great Spirit, turn your eyes again to this place that you have abandoned.”
”O Great Spirit, free us, the people of darkness, from that predestined curse.”
”I would dedicate my life to You and please You with my blood.”
……
Over and over again, just as he was in complete despair and trying to stand up, he saw a deep red glow erupt from within that pure crystal ball.
The glow was like running water and instantly overwhelmed Derek.
When he initially regained consciousness, he found himself standing in a lofty palace supported by huge stone pillars, in front of him was a long, ancient and mottled bronze table, and on the opposite side of the table sat a figure shrouded in a thick gray mist.
Other than that, the surrounding area was empty, ethereal, and void, and the bottom was filled with an unseen gray fog and an unreal crimson dot of light.
A flame called hope was ignited in the bottom of Derek’s heart, and he looked blankly and doubtfully at the figure perched high on the seat in front of him and said:
”You, you are a deity?”
After asking the question, he suddenly remembered a sentence in the Silver City’s general knowledge book and hurriedly lowered his head.
That sentence was:
”Do not look directly at a god!”
Klein leaned back and clasped his hands crosswise, his posture leisurely and relaxed as he replied in the Giant’s language:
”I’m not a god, I’m just a fool interested in a long history.”
Having tapped his left tooth twice long ago, he noticed that the teenager in front of him had a mottled, non-uniform color deep within the surface of his etheric body, the astral spirit body.
This indicated that the other was not yet an Extraordinary.
The Fool …… Derek chewed on the word and remained silent for a long time before speaking with difficulty:
”Whether you are a deity, or a fool, my prayers don’t change, I wish that everyone in the Silver City gets rid of the curse of predestination, I wish that the sun described in those books appears, appears in the sky, and if, if it’s possible, I also wish that my parents can be resurrected.”
Hey, I’m not a wishing machine …… Klein let go of his hands and smiled:
”Why would I want to help you?”
Derek froze for a moment and said:
”I will give my soul, and I will please you with my blood.”
”I have no interest in the blood and souls of mortals.” Klein smiled and shook his head, watching the emotions of the teenager in front of him turn the color of despair a little.
Not waiting for the other to speak again, he said leisurely:
”But I can give you a chance.”
”I am a fool who likes to exchange for equal value, you can use everything you can get to get the things you want from me, from other people who are similar to you, note that it must be of equal value ……”
”This will allow you to become strong, and perhaps one day, you can rely on yourself to free the Silver City from its curse and bring back the sun to the sky.”
In accordance with the other party’s description just now, he had a certain certainty that the Silver City was in the so-called God Forsaken Land.
Of course, he couldn’t be one hundred percent sure for the time being, after all, according to religious texts, the state of the sky without the sun still existed in the First Age, the Chaos Era, after all, who knows if there are strange places unknown to the Northern Continent’s kingdoms other than the Land of God’s Abandonment.
Derek listened quietly, bowing his head in silence for a while before answering:
”I want to become a ‘Sun’ and would like to get the magic potion formula for its initial sequence from you.”
Sequence, magic potion, “sun” …… The Church of the Eternal Blaze has mastered the sequence pathway …… It does seem to be in the same world… …
The word “sequence” was born after the first Blasphemous Tablet, at the end of the Second Age of Darkness. …… In other words, if Silver City is really in the Forsaken Lands, it means that this area was separated from the North and South continents at least at the end of the Second Age! ……
Could this have anything to do with the Tertiary Cataclysm? Legend has it that the Goddess of Night, the Mother Goddess of the Earth, and the God of War came into existence, and together with the Lord of Storms, the Eternal Sun, and the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, they blessed mankind through the Plague …… Klein got a lot of information from the other party’s words.
He had a hard time listening though, and an even harder time organizing his words, as the Giant language wasn’t that proficient yet.
Luckily, the Gufthak language was directly derived from the Giant language, and in this regard, Klein was barely considered an expert, so he was making rapid progress in mastering the Giant language, and was not showing any signs of weakness nowadays.
Klein kept his posture unchanged and replied in a flat tone:
”This deal can be put on the next, for the next two days, it’s best if you don’t go out and try not to stay in the same room as the others.”
He did not know what the unit of time in Silver City was, not to mention how to convert it with the time of the Kingdom of Ruen in the North Continent, so he had to generalize it as tomorrow, and wait until after the tarot party, and then tell the other party that from now on, it will be at this point in time, and that is the time. ……
As for the unit of “days”, since it is found in the Giants’ language, Klein thinks that even if Silver City doesn’t use it to count, the other party should still understand what it means.
”…… Okay, obey your orders.” Derek bowed his head and replied without objection.
Klein secretly sighed in relief and tapped his finger on the edge of the table:
”Before I send you back, let’s finish the equation we just made, I gave you the opportunity to be powerful, and you have to pay the price accordingly.”
”As I said I am a fool with a penchant for long histories, the exchange I am asking for is, the history of the Silver City, the ones you know.”
Derek thought for a moment and replied in a low voice:
”I will describe them truthfully.”
”The City of Silver has existed since the Lord of all creation, the all-knowing God, abandoned this land, no, it existed before that, only it was still called the Land of Silver.”
