Part 3 The Traveler Chapter 124 Intimidation
Above the gray mist, inside the giant’s dwelling-like palace.
Klein tapped his fingers on the edge of the long mottled table, his thoughts constantly revolving around the strange dice.
”It allows me to receive influence without notice or abnormality …… This is already similar to the original ‘0-08’, only one is right in front of me and the other hides behind the curtain… …It’s definitely a seal, and it’s one of those near the top, a very special existence in the ‘1’ class, if not the ‘0’ class ……
”Fate is something I’m powerless to interfere with for now, but I can’t be passive about it, as time goes on, sealing objects of a similar level tend to wreak more havoc, and perhaps will affect those around the Fat Apothecary, such as myself and the ship’s passengers ……” Klein thought hard for a while, clueless, and decided to return to the real world immediately.
He didn’t know how to seal the dice or how to diminish its effects, but he knew exactly who did.
That person was Will Ansettin, the Mercury Serpent, who was still in his mother’s womb, still in a fetal state!
After entering the master bedroom, taking the crane from his wallet and unfolding it on the table, Klein glanced at the surface, which still showed signs of rubbing, and picked up a pencil, writing a simple question:
”What about the dice?”
He folded the crane back into its original form and tucked it into his money clip, then went outside the servants’ room and flexed his fingers and tapped it three times.
This didn’t really go against Germaine Sparrow’s persona as he was a well-mannered madman, but of course, Kline was mostly afraid that opening the door would kill the unlucky fat druggist Duckwell, which was something he had learned from the “Dead Man Walking” movie series.
In addition, Klein is also a little worried about opening the door directly to see a hot image.
Duckwell’s preferences, he found himself in an extremely dangerous situation, and it is difficult to get rid of, can only wait for the death, there is a small probability to decide to have a last round of …… Klein slandered in the midst of the belly, heard the fat pharmacist breathlessly responded:
”What is it?”
It’s good that he’s not dead yet …… Klein carefully opened the door, leaned his body forward slightly, looked at Duckwell and the ring box that was open in front of him, and calmly asked:
”What time?”
”Isn’t there a wall clock ……” Duckwell continued to have that same uninspired look.
”I asked about the dice.” Klein added succinctly.
”It’s still 3:00 ……” Duckwell answered instinctively at first, then whirled his head around and jumped up, “You believe me?”
Crane made no response, lest the other should be reminded of the scene in which Germaine Sparrow had just been fooled by the dice.
He turned his body and said in a tone that did not rise or fall:
”Bring the dice outside.”
”Yes!”
”Yes!”
Duckwell and Harry the Owl uttered in surprise, almost simultaneously.
One of them raised his arms, the other his wings.
When the fat apothecary came out holding the ring box very carefully, Klein pointed to the coffee table and said:
”Put it on top.”
As he said this, he sat down to the couch next to him, his elbows resting on his thighs as he leaned forward to scrutinize the strange dice.
From the looks of it, the dice were not odd in any occult sense, the only difference from its normal counterpart being the red color used for even the three points.
Cautiously not touching it, Klein straightened up slightly and looked over at Duckwell, the fat apothecary, who was sitting in the chair across from him, and Harry, the fat owl, who had dropped to the top of the back of the chair:
”Describe the exact situation.”
Duckwell, no longer holding anything back, said with a smile that was worse than tears:
”This is an important seal within our organization, and my mission is to deliver it to the designated person on Olavi Island.
”But, as you can see, it is very dangerous, and it will turn on its own, even if there is no corresponding space at all!
”When it turns to 6, the holder will be lucky enough to do anything with ease and success, just as I tricked you earlier with a rather lame lie.”
Don’t mention this matter …… You’ll get a hard time for that mouth one day …… Klein listened without expression.
Duckwell continued:
”1 point means that the holder will be very unlucky, unable to succeed in anything, even if I told you everything without hiding it, you wouldn’t believe me ……
”2 points should be a lesser degree of bad luck, but why it would cause me to be struck by lightning …… This is incomprehensible!
”Points 3 and 4 are normal bad luck and good fortune, which can be confirmed. points 5 and 2 correspond.”
You’re not unlucky enough, otherwise I would have already punched you just now …… Klein thought about it and calmly commanded:
”From now on, you guys take turns monitoring this dice and tell me immediately when it drops below 3 points.”
”Us?” Duckwell was momentarily confused.
”Including me?” The owl at the top of the chair back behind him raised its right wing.
Klein leaned back against the back of the couch, teetering on his right leg, and said calmly:
”It helps keep the energy up and maintain attention.”
When he finished, he pointed at the owl with his chin:
”You start first.”
”My name is Harry.” The owl muttered.
Harry …… Klein stifled a laugh and turned to Duckwell:
”You go and ring the bell for the waiter to come over, and from now on, we’re opting for delivery service.
”Until you arrive on Oravi Island, you must remain within the parlor at all times and not go anywhere.
”Even if you wish to go into the lavatory, you must do so in the 3:00 and 4:00 states.
”If you really can’t hold it in, I’ll give you a bucket.”
Listening to Germaine Sparrow’s methodical instructions, Fat Pharmacist Duckwell settled down a little, no longer as terrified as before.
The things he was most worried about just now were firstly that Germaine Sparrow’s greed was induced and he chose to kill and rob the goods, and secondly, that this slightly crazy cold adventurer was scared by the dice and decided to interrupt the commission and no longer provide protection.
And now it seemed that Germaine Sparrow was undaunted, even confident!
Duckwell thought to himself with secret relief and oil:
”What a professional performance he just gave ……
”And not at all intimidated!
”He was also able to forcibly break free from the effects of the dice and accept my explanation, worthy of being a powerful adventurer who can easily hunt down ‘coquettish speakers’! Definitely a pirate general level powerhouse!”
Duckwell stood up, walked to the door, and pulled the service bell.
Just as he returned to the couch area, the shrill voice of Harry the Owl suddenly rang in his ears:
”Change!
”Two points!”
With a sudden burst of energy, Klein leapt up from the couch without warning on both feet and raced to Duckwell’s side.
Bang!
At the same time as a gunshot came from outside, Klein pulled Duckwell’s arm back, his arm retreated, his wrist shook, and threw the chubby pharmacist to the other side.
By this time, there was an extra hole made by a bullet in the wall corresponding to where Duckwell had been standing.
Was this a sailor’s gun going off? Or when shooting a target such as a seabird, it hit somewhere unknown and bounced in? Either way, the probability of occurrence is very low ah, the result …… Klein looked sideways at the fat pharmacist:
”Any injuries?”
Duckwell shook his head afterward:
”It’s fine.”
In the next few hours, Klein solved a dozen or so accidents one after another, including the sudden fall of a roof chandelier, the slipping maintenance worker’s hammer going straight for Duckwell’s head, and the fat pharmacist’s throat nearly dying from a fish splinter stuck in his throat.
None of this seemed too impressive, but for Krynn it required keeping the mind so focused that exhaustion was inevitable.
Luckily, the dice turned to 4 points on its own again, finally ending that disaster-filled hour.
No, if this keeps up, maybe I’ll even have an accident when I’m rescuing people …… Klein dismissed the captain who came to apologize and said to Duckwell:
”I’ll sleep for half an hour.
”You guys keep an eye on the dice and wake me up immediately if there’s a problem.”
The fat apothecary and the owl nodded like chickens feeding at the same time.
Leaning against the back of the couch, Klein, with the aid of meditation, fell fast asleep, hoping that Will Onsettin had responded.
When he awoke from his dream and saw the dark, barren plains he was on, he breathed a quiet sigh of relief and followed the familiar path until he came to the depths of the Black Spire.
The raised floor, surrounded by a single tarot card, had been lined with more lines of silver-white words, dense and numerous.
Klein stopped in his tracks and skimmed it quickly:
”It’s called the ‘Dice of Probability,'” he said.
”It is the highest ranked seal within our school, and I think it can reach the ‘0’ level.
”It controls the probability of every event, at 1 point the probability of being unfavorable to the target is amplified to the limit, at 2 points the unfavorable probability is drastically increased, this does not mean that 2 points are necessarily safer than 1 point, because once the probability becomes higher, any accident can happen. 3 points are amplified against the unfavorable probability, and the opposite is true for 4 to 6 points.
”Even for me, who can reset the process to a certain extent, it is quite a dangerous seal. Utilizing it could kill a demigod, and of course, possibly yourself.”
I get it, your fight with the Dice of Probability is like the confrontation between the Great God of Sevlod and the God of Dice (Note 1) …… Klein mentally spat out, and proceeded to continue reading:
”The ‘Dice of Probability’ has the property of being alive, always making the holder go back and forth between bad luck and good fortune, and if they are not careful, they will die due to an accident. When the degree of its awakening becomes high enough, it will little by little bring the people and things around the holder into its control, manipulating the probability of their behavior.
”Although no confirmation has been done, I suspect that if given a long enough period of time, it can influence the entire world so that all behaviors of all living beings are determined by the number of points it rolls, except for the gods, of course.”
Simply put, it would datamaterialize the entire world …… This, this is definitely in the category of “0” level sealing objects, and the level of harm is extremely high! It’s really scary ah …… Klein frowned uncontrollably, eagerly reading down:
”To truly seal the ‘Dice of Probability’ is quite complicated, simply put, it is to use a specific seal to isolate its connection with the Spirit World, Astral World, and the real world, you can give it a try.
”Haha, I’ll show my cards, I’ve long since realized that you can counter my precognition, perhaps you can use that to seal it.
”There is another way, but it only reduces the impact for a short time, but it’s enough to deliver the ‘Dice of Probability’ smoothly to someone who can seal it.
”That way is to take advantage of the fact that it possesses the property of being alive, and to rely on effective means of intimidating it so that it will behave, nay, be quiet for a period of time, about twelve hours, after which it will continue again.
”The more times you terrorize it, the less it is affected, and after more than a week it will hold a grudge against you and manipulate your probabilities like crazy.
”Finally, thank you for your help, your sincere friend Will Onsettin.”
As expected of the “Serpent of Fate”, he did find my special …… Throwing the “Dice of Probability” on top of the gray mist should be able to seal it… …But the problem is, this kind of “0” level seal with living characteristics may be able to influence the mysterious space above the gray mist, and drive me out and become the master …… This kind of thing can’t be answered by divination, it can definitely be countered. Surely it can make a confrontation, just like the “0-08″…… Klein rejected the idea of utilizing the gray fog.
In the midst of his thoughts, he suddenly had an idea.
Klein was busy breaking out of his dream state, waking up, and said to the fat pharmacist Duckwell:
”I have a way to suppress its effects.”
”What way?” Duckwell asked in surprise.
Without answering, Klein picked up the “4” point up “Dice of Probability” and walked into the washroom.
What was he going to do? I remember some folklore, the way to deal with evil things is to throw feces …… vomit …… Duckwell does not want to think about it.
Entering the lavatory and unlocking the door, Klein immediately set up the ritual, summoning himself, then he went above the gray mist and brought out the iron cigarette case.
Then, he took the Dice of Probability and opened the cigarette case – inside was the Eye of Total Darkness from the Master of the Secret Puppets.
In the dim light, Klein’s face was deeply shadowed, and his gaze was dark and introspective as he brought the Dice of Probability closer to the strange eye, which contained the extraordinary characteristics of the spiritual pollution of the “True Creator”.
The corners of his mouth slowly widened into a benign smile, and he whispered to the dice in his hand:
”Come, I invite you to a concert.”
