Part 5 Red Priestess Chapter 19 Short Crisis
On the top floor of the small building, a black-haired, brown-pupiled, darkly-clothed, twenty-seven or twenty-eight year old man looked down at the arms deal not far away for a while and couldn’t help but speak:
”The one he’s looking for is actually Messanyes? Oh, Storm on top, Alfred, if I had known it was like this, why don’t we go do this mission ourselves, even if we deduct the expenses of all aspects, we can still earn at least twenty thousand pounds!”
Next to this man was a young man in a black trench coat, twenty-three or twenty-four years old, with brilliant blonde hair and blue eyes like a lake, and quite good-looking.
Known as Alfred, he shook his head at the words and said:
”No, that would be too conspicuous, Messanyes’ position has always been ambiguous, before figuring out his attitude, rushing to him to talk about arms deals is a very risky thing, Dawn Dantes can earn the twenty thousand pounds because he dares to take risks.”
The man with black hair and brown pupils let out a “heh”:
”Alfred Hall who dared to attack an army of thousands by leading a few dozen men even said he dared not take the risk!”
Alfred glanced at him and said:
”Pagani, it’s not the same thing, that time it was because I was sure I could end their command, whereas once there’s no organization, a thousand routed soldiers might not be as powerful as a thousand pigs.
”Besides, the deal itself was a test run, part of establishing a connection to lay the ‘pipeline’, and if it’s done by us, then who will we call next time? What about the next next time? Doing it all the time will always expose our identities, that way, diplomacy will be passive, moreover, as the deal deepens and expands, it might attract the attention of demigods from certain forces, and it will be dangerous then.”
”Haha.” Pagani laughed, “How could a demigod be so free that they would pay attention to such a small-scale arms deal? There are only so many demigods in each power, there are too many things waiting for them to do!”
”I know, I was just giving an example.” Alfred responded stoically.
Pagani didn’t dwell on that aspect of the matter and redirected his gaze to Dawn Dantes outside the warehouse:
”This gentleman is said to be very generous, not long after arriving in Berkland he donated over ten thousand pounds worth of shares to the Church of the Night, is this the upfront investment you always talk about?
”Also, he seems to work in the same charitable foundation as your sister, tsk, such a man is very popular with young girls ah, good-looking, outstanding temperament, have the brains, have experience, have the wrist, have seen more women than I can count but have reached the age when it is time for them to settle down, Alfred, you can tell Audrey more about how a playboy will always be a playboy, and about how a bad character is a a flaw that can never be corrected in a lifetime, and that you can’t let the brightest jewel of Birkeland be stolen by such a fellow.”
Alfred glared sideways at Pagney:
”This kind of thing doesn’t need me to worry about, Audrey is not a young and ignorant maiden, her knowledge of the world is far more mature than you can imagine, moreover, my father, my mother are all in Berkland, there are enough abilities to stop something bad from happening.”
Speaking here, Alfred looked at the arms warehouse not far away, and said after a pause:
”The one sent from Mesangyes’ side is surprisingly Haggis, I’ll go say hello to him.”
This kind of time is not very suitable to meet, right …… Pagny just wanted to open his mouth, Alfred has turned and walked down the stairs.
……
Klein, who had taken on the appearance of Dawn Dantes, had not brought a servant with him, and holding a gold-encrusted cane by himself, stood outside the door of the warehouse along with Haggis, the representative of Mesangyes, and watched as crate after crate of armaments were lifted out and placed on the wagons.
It was then that he half-turned his body, as if by sense, and cast his eyes to the other side.
Into his eyes was a young man without a hat and clad in a trench coat, his blonde hair was combed back diagonally, his azure eyes were like a lake under a clear sky, his body was slender and well-proportioned, and there was an indescribable sense of majesty coming out from his every move, and even if there was a lack of soldiers clustered around him, he still visually presented an authoritative connotation.
”Alfred!” Haggis also noticed this gentleman and opened his mouth to shout in slight surprise.
Alfred …… the second brother of Ms. Justice …… this feeling, very much like the “Arbiter” way of the …… Klein raised his right hand, removed his bowler hat, and pressed it to his chest in greeting.
Alfred Hall greeted Haggis and then turned to Dawn Dantes:
”Your character is widely rumored in Berkland, even I, who am in East Byron, have heard of it.”
Character? Character in arms trafficking? Klein belly-laughed and chuckled:
”I just did what I thought I should do.”
Alfred nodded:
”I don’t think I need to introduce myself, do I? Haggis should have told you about me.”
”Yes, Colonel Hall.” Klein responded with a smile, “It was only when I came here that I realized that Miss Audrey also has a brother who is in the Southern Continent, serving in the army and getting a lot of credit for his service.”
Alfred’s gaze swept over Dawn Dantes’ face and digressed:
”I originally thought that you would take the opportunity to work at the ‘Ruin Charity Scholarship Fund’, but I didn’t realize that you chose to come to the Southern Continent.”
Klein maintained his smile from earlier and said:
”For an outsider, it’s hard to truly enter the original circle with just donations, charities, banquets and dancing.”
Alfred let out a “hmm”:
”Very sensible.”
After a few more pleasantries, he inquired of Haggis:
”What happened in Kukwa City some time ago? It seemed serious.”
Haggis piled on a smile and said:
”I’m not really sure, at that time, we all hid under the ground of the general’s residence, only to hear later that a thunderstorm had appeared in the area of Resurrection Square.”
”Thunderstorm?” Alfred’s eyes once again turned to Dawn Dantes.
Klein nodded and said:
”Indeed, the inn I stayed at was not too far from Resurrection Square, and there were sightings of lightning striking there one after another, and it all happened during the day.”
Alfred’s gaze moved back to Haggis:
”What was the final scene like?”
”Most of it collapsed and shattered, and there were lightning strikes everywhere.” Haggis did not hide anything.
Alfred nodded gently and pointed to the side, addressing Haggis and Dawn Dantes:
”I still have some things to do, so we’ll talk again when we have a chance to meet later.”
”See you next time.” Klein responded politely, as if he were in a social situation, not outside an arms warehouse.
He was about to watch Alfred Hall leave when his body moved slightly and his head suddenly sidled to the other side.
……
Within the pristine jungle that was everywhere in East and West Byron, a silhouette bent over his back and slowly outlined itself.
He had a fleshy face with brownish skin, loose clothing, a stabbing sword at his waist, and a silver-white mask in his hand.
Looking around, the figure stood up a little bit, just like the “Hell Admiral” Ludwig, who had entered the underworld before.
However, at this time, his eyes were burning with two blood-red flames, very different from the past.
”So hungry ……” Ludwig opened his mouth and let out a sigh that seemed to come from inside his chest.
He then cast his gaze in a certain direction and muttered to himself:
”There is the owner of this secret puppet there; fate has brought them together again.
”He has an item of the ‘Hunter’ pathway on him, just in time to provide a complement.”
Before the words left his mouth, Ludwell’s left cheek steeply cracked open with a bloody mouth that opened and closed:
”Medici, the first thing we need to address is the presence! After this secret puppet has completely lost contact with its master, it is already equal to being truly dead, and the residual spirit will soon return to the underworld, unable to maintain the body any longer, and without the support of the underworld within him, we will inevitably begin to weaken until we dissipate!”
”Right, the most important thing at the moment is to find another ‘caretaker’.” A mouth also appeared on Ludwell’s right cheek.
”Red Angel” Medici chortled at once:
”Soren, Einhorn, did you two used to be women? Angel’s bits are in the toilet with you guys! The fact that that guy was able to fight off the ‘0-08’ arrangement a few times means that he’s by no means simple, so how can we let go of this opportunity to lock him down? When this secret puppet passes away completely, it won’t be that easy again!
”Moreover, the ‘Hunter’ pathway item on him can effectively boost our existence time, so it won’t be too late to find a new ‘Caretaker’ after we’ve resolved him.”
The bloody fissure on the left side of Ludwell’s face snorted instantly:
”Medici, have you sacrificed your brain to the ‘Real Creator’? That guy has obviously been promoted, in our current state, it’s not hard to defeat a ‘Trickster Mage’, but it’s almost impossible to kill him!”
Medici didn’t get annoyed and laughed lowly:
”It’s not without a solution, as long as you guys let me chant the Lord’s honorable name, help will immediately come over, and maybe even bring their own ‘caretaker’.”
The mouth on the right side of Ludwell’s face immediately opened and closed:
”Soren, let’s unite against him and go find the ‘gatekeeper’.”
”Good.” The left side of Ludwell’s mouth responded without hesitation.
”Red Angel” Medici saw this and laughed:
”You two sure fell for it! My plan has worked, and I’m sure you two used to be women!”
Ludwell growled lowly from his left and right mouths:
”Shut up!”
”Hmph, we’ve been blended together for two thousand years, and we still don’t know your tricks? No need to struggle!”
As he spoke, the colors around “Hell Admiral” Ludwell instantly thickened and layered together.
He had already entered the spirit world and began to travel.
……
Outside the arms warehouse, Klein finally withdrew his sight, and the sense of danger disappeared.
–At that moment just now, he actually had an inexplicable heartbeat, yet he was unable to present the corresponding image within his mind.
”What situation?” Klein muttered silently to himself, and without waiting any longer, he threw the suitcase in his hand to the officer who handed it over, and then said to Haggis beside him, “The next thing is your own business, so you can give me the final payment.”
He was referring to a heavy case filled with gold bars and coins.
Haggis had planned to have a drink with Dawn Dantes after the delivery was completed, to celebrate the complete success of the matter and to discuss possible future deals, but he had not expected that the other party would be in such a hurry to leave.
”Well, it’s in that wagon.” He pointed.
Alfred, who had already walked out for a distance, also looked back in slight surprise, not understanding why Dawn Dantes suddenly did not follow the scheduled process.
