”It can only last for more than a minute …… this is too short ……” Klein’s thoughts flashed, not bothering to think about other things, and in two steps he came to the desk.

He put down the “Grosseur’s Travels”, took “0-08”, and wrote quickly on a piece of white paper:

”George III intends to use this speech to fish out all the enemies who want to sabotage his own ceremony, but if everything goes well and nothing unexpected happens, then he will also take the opportunity to take magic pills, lift the bottom card, and impact the divine rank, after all, there are too many unknowns in the future, and the same won’t be insured, and moreover, his preparations are now perfect and proper enough.

”This is a very reasonable kind of development.”

Dropping the last sentence, before Klein had time to carefully check the content for any errors, the slightly dull quill in his hand disappeared without a sound, as if it had never arrived and existed.

And then the content of just a few sentences seemed to drain Klein’s energy, making his head appear slightly dizzy, and he had to take a few steps back and sit on his butt in the chair.

”It doesn’t make sense ah …… didn’t see how tired and strained Ince Zangwill was in the first place ah …… Uh, it should be because I forced the summoning and didn’t dare to let ‘0-08 ‘s own weaving story’s sake, writing had to rely on their own spirituality to support, while Ince Zangwill can get ‘0-08’ cooperation, the consumption will not be so big …… “Klein closed his eyes and meditated for a while, finally slowing down.

Under normal circumstances, without substantial contact with “0-08”, he had only met it once, it was impossible to summon this “0” level seal, but on the one hand, he had the “Serpent of Fate” to personally enhance his luck. But on the one hand, he had the “Serpent of Fate” personally blessing his luck, and on the other hand, he possessed the “Grocer’s Travels”, which was an item left behind by the “Dragon of Imagination”, Angle Weed, and inside it, there was the “City of Miracles”, Levihide, which was similar to the “0-08”, and it was a symbol of the “0-08”. There is some kind of deep connection with “0-08” – if it wasn’t for the interference of certain high-level existences, these two items would have met long ago.

Klein wasn’t sure if this connection between fate and traits could increase the probability of successful summoning, but he just thought that there was nothing to lose by trying, and the result was really successful.

Because of this, he did not dare to use the “Grocer’s Travels” to carry the contents of the “0-08” projection, and did not even dare to let them close, for fear that something unstoppable and unbearable would happen.

This was Berkland, and the population density was extremely high!

”Well, logically speaking, there shouldn’t be any accidents, after all, ‘0-08’ is an image in the orifice of history, it’s a fake, “Grocer’s Travels” is the ‘Dragon of Empty Thoughts’ manifested, it’s also a fake, fake Matching fake, how can it not be real ah, lack of extraordinary characteristics as a material basis …… turn back can go to no one’s reef island to experiment …… “Klein rubbed the corner of his forehead, stood up, returned to the desk, and examined the the paragraph he had just written.

He did not directly write that George III failed to be promoted and fell on the spot, because he thought that in the interference sequence 1 angel, only the projection of the “0-08” can not be so direct, and must be a little more euphemistic.

Moreover, the opposite side of the Psychological Alchemy Society, there is Amon K brother, too obvious influence will inevitably be detected, easy to be exploited, Klein can only be a little roundabout, to reduce the unknown.

”I hope it’s useful ……” After gazing at it for a while, Klein folded the piece of paper and tucked it into his coat pocket.

He then sacrificed the Grocer’s Travels back on top of the Gray Mist.

With that done, Klein began to think about another issue, which was when to go out and get ice cream for Will Onsettin.

”There’s Charatu and probably Amon in Berkland, and it’s a bit dangerous to go out too much and maybe run into each other on the spot……. How about summoning ice cream for Will from the History Hole? This is very real when you eat it, after a quarter of an hour it will disappear, don’t have to worry about getting fat at all, it’s simply too good to be true ……” Klein couldn’t help but mumble a few words in his mind.

In the end, he decided to change his clothes and go out, because a man has to keep his promises!

  ……

Saturday morning, the sky was gray and foggy, making people feel depressed inside for no reason.

This is a common sight in the late winter in Bakerland, although there are not as many thick haze and pungent smells as last year, but the geographical environment and climatic characteristics determine that similar situations are bound to persist for a long time, and, the fight against air pollution is never declared a success in one or two years.

Melissa draped a knee-length black tweed overcoat over her long dress, put on a hat that draped a fine black veil, and walked briskly toward the door.

Benson, holding his own bowler hat, shook his head at the sight:

”A young girl of less than twenty has to dress like she’s less than twenty; it’s just too mature and old-fashioned, see? Old-fashioned.”

Melissa glanced at her brother and simply replied back:

”Bread has gone up another quarter of a penny per pound.”

  ”These prices ……” Benson tsked.

He then took out his silver pocket watch, whose surface was covered with branching patterns, snapped it open and looked at it:

”Come on, it’s a long way to the town square.”

Melissa gave a “hmmm” and went out with her brother into the street.

”Good morning, Mrs. Daniels.” A few steps ahead, Benson saw a neighbor out and smiled a greeting.

He was good at communicating and had long ago established a good relationship with the neighbors around him.

The lady known as Mrs. Daniels, dressed in a plain black dress, in her mid-forties, with a thin face and a fine checkered black veil covering her hat hanging down over her face, simply nodded at the greeting and responded briefly:

  ”Good morning, both of you.”

She made no pleasantries and coldly left on her own.

Benson watched her back and deliberately slowed his pace, waiting until he had pulled away before sidelong questioning his sister:

  ”What’s happened to Mrs. Daniels?

”I’ve been too busy for a while and haven’t visited the neighbors in a long time.”

  Melissa pursed her lips:

”Mrs. Daniel’s eldest son, Larry, was confirmed to have been killed in action on the front lines of the Amanda Mountains, yesterday’s news.”

”The tall, shy, but attentive, kind and sincere lad? When he came back last time, he said that he had been promoted in the army and had become a lieutenant ……” Benson asked rhetorically, slightly surprised.

  Melissa nodded:

”I can’t imagine Larry dying like that either ……”

Just like she couldn’t imagine a classmate she knew from school dying tragically in front of her.

It was only a matter of seconds before some people could no longer speak, communicate, or read.

Benson was silent for a moment and sighed:

”I’ve been busy for a while, actually dealing with the pensions, so maybe I’m not sure since Larry wasn’t included in the part of the list I was assigned.

”That list came with quite a bit of information, some were cheerful and enthusiastic, some had a good sense of humor, some were the only son of their parents, some were stoic and leaders of the soldiers around them, some had just gotten married and didn’t have any children yet, some were preparing a gift for their little girl, some were carrying a love letter on their person with the intention of dropping it off at the post office when they finished that battle …… them, all dead.”

Melissa and Benson fell silent at the same time, and no one spoke for a long time.

It was only when they were almost at the intersection that Melissa looked at the road ahead and spoke in a low voice:

”What do you think His Majesty the King will be speaking about today?”

”Maybe it’s a mobilization, or maybe it’s to convey the belief of certain victory.” Benson replied casually.

Melissa gave her brother a sideways glance:

”That’s not like you, Benson, shouldn’t you be mocking a few things?”

”Mocking should also be done after listening to the speech and figuring out the specifics, the most basic rule of being a human being is not to comment on things you don’t know enough about, or else you’re not even as good as a curly haired baboon.” Benson chuckled.

That’s when he saw another neighbor.

The other man, with gray hair, half of his face covered with layers of scarves, wearing a heavy jacket and carrying a cloth bag in his hand, crossed over to the siblings in a hurry.

”Mr. Thomas is so strangely dressed …… Is there anything else he has to do by the way?” Benson asked with a slightly puzzled look at the other man’s back.

Melissa answered in a low voice:

”Mrs. Thomas is ill, and has spent a good deal of the family’s savings; and as the price of food has risen so much lately, and Mr. Thomas’s income has not changed much, he has had to line up at the relief point every few days for some bread; he is a decent gentleman, and probably does not much wish to be recognized by others.

”Also, there is always a limited amount of food at the Relief Point, go too late and there is likely to be none left, have to apply for extra at churches, soup kitchens, etc… Today’s Relief starts at the end of His Majesty’s Speech, and Mr. Thomas should want to go straight there when he wants to.”

Benson nodded slowly and asked with concern:

”What ails Mrs. Thomas? I know several good doctors.”

”An illness caused by worry.” Melissa said what she had heard, “Mrs. Thomas is very worried about her infant son who is serving in the army.”

”You mean young Thomas?” Benson’s brow furrowed slightly.

After receiving an affirmative answer from his sister, he fell silent, seeming to recall something.

It was only after an interval, nearing that nearest town square, that Benson looked ahead and whispered:

”Little Thomas has been killed in action. ……”

…… Melissa didn’t respond, just looked momentarily a little dazed.

They walked forward again in silence, as if relying on inertia.

Ahead of them, more and more people appeared, people dressed as gentlemen in formal attire with canes, or in dresses in shades of blue, green, yellow, and red, or sweaters and jackets with pants, or dresses in deep black and low tones.

They came out of their houses and over the streets they were in, as if a splash of water, merged together at the intersection to form the brook.

The brook surged forward and multiple streams merged into it, weaving into a majestic torrent at the entrance to the plaza.

The torrent rushed slowly, flooding the square.

Being in such a crowd, Melissa felt as small as a drop of water.
