A+ A- Turn Off Light

Bakerland, Queens, the northwestern suburb, a place that took more than an hour to reach by carriage, Maege Manor was built according to the Tasok River, with beautiful scenery around and flourishing flowers and trees inside.

Strange to say, Bakerland city year-round cloudy and rainy, less sunshine time, but its outskirts, always thin clouds, sunny, obviously not far away, but presents two very different weather, which, to the northwest suburb of the most obvious, and even one of the North Continent is quite famous for the vineyard, and from the area along the Tassock River and then northwest about 50 kilometers, the weather will be near the Bakerland German city center.

While meteorologists have always been puzzled by similar situations and have not been able to find suitable theories to clarify the reasons, Klein has a vague guess:

In the Fourth Age, this was the capital of the United Empire of Tudor-Trenthorst, and the “Blood Emperor” Alistair also abandoned his humanity and became a mad god here, so it was normal for the weather and terrain to be permanently altered on a small scale! –Leonard Mitchell had mentioned this information during the free exchange of information in the Tarot Club.

Moreover, as an area with a long history and the earliest activities of mankind, this “Land of Hope” has buried many ancient relics, all of which are likely to have a certain invisible influence on the weather.

The carriage drove into Maege Manor, past the fountain and small garden surrounded by the main house, and stopped outside the main gate.

Klein had just stepped out of the carriage with his butler, Walter, when he saw Richardson, the deacon of the manor, leading two rows of manservants and maids, standing by the door, waiting for his employer.

Compared to 160 Birklund Street, there were more servants here, but they all belonged to the second class and below.

Glancing at Richardson, whose clothes were straight and fresh-looking, Klein nodded with a smile:

  ”Well done.”

Not waiting for Richardson to respond, he took off his hat and handed it to his personal manservant, Njoni, along with his cane, while directly asking:

”Is the sitting-room for the ladies to gossip and play cards ready?”

”It is ready, with poker, tarot, and some board games placed, and the usual musical instruments such as the piano and violin moved in.” Richardson replied fluently.

Klein passed through the door and nodded gently:

”And the smoking room for the men?”

”Like the ladies, they are on the second floor of the main building, five rooms apart.” Richardson didn’t need to be reminded by the servants in the manor, and without even doing any recall, he gave the answer.

  – He had asked about every little thing in order that the first hunt initiated by his employer should not go awry, and though physically exhausted, he was in extremely high spirits.

Klein asked some more about dinner and the guest rooms, and confirmed that all was in order.

It wasn’t long before he waited for the first guests to arrive at Maege Manor after it changed its name to Dontese:

  Senator Macht’s family!

”This place is much bigger than my Elk Manor.” Maht smiled as he took off his jacket and handed it to the servant, while praising, “I’ve always heard that Maege’s home-brewed wines are excellent, but I never had the chance to taste them, so today I can finally satisfy my curiosity.”

”I hope I won’t disappoint you.” Klein humbly smiled.

As a famous grape growing place in the North Continent, the champagne, red wine, and white wine in this area of the Northwest suburbs of Beckland are all of excellent quality, but most of the estates in this area belong to the aristocracy, and the home-brewed alcoholic beverages basically won’t be sold to the public, so almost no one has heard of it in the market, and only the upper class people or people close to this circle are aware of the situation.

Maege is one of the most representative estates in this place, and the home-brewed wines have been widely praised by the circle where they are made, and the red wines of special vintages have even been offered by collectors for hundreds of pounds a bottle.

However, for Klein to be able to buy such an estate for 20,000 gold pounds, he had naturally agreed to some conditions, that is, all the wines of the special vintage were taken away by the people sent by Duke Negan.

Councilor Macht was quite aware of this and didn’t expect to be able to drink collector-grade famous wines, and smiled at his words:

”You can open a few more bottles of wine and pour me a small glass of each, so that I can properly evaluate which remaining vintage is the most outstanding.”

As a member of the upper class, it was true that he had never drank the wine from the Rose Song Manor, for the simple reason that he was a New Party MP, and the Duke of Upper Negan was the main financier of the Conservative Party.

”No problem.” Klein immediately agreed, his gaze sweeping over Hazel’s face next to him in passing.

Compared to July and August, the young girl had obviously opened up a lot, no longer cowering when she met strangers, and even reluctant to participate in dinners and dances-which made those who knew her well think she was sick.

This was due to “Justice” Audrey, who, when meeting with Dawn Dantes at the Ruane Charitable Scholarship Fund, mentioned twice that she had recently met Miss Hazel Macht.

At first glance, such an exchange did not seem to be a problem, because Hazel was a familiar person to both Audrey and Dantes, a crossroads of their circles, and it was a normal tendency to look for topics of conversation from similar friends in casual conversation, but Klein understood Ms. Justice’s hints, and realized that she was saying that she had met Hazel at a ball or a party. Twice, with two follow-up treatments.

After arranging the rooms for the Machts, Klein welcomed the second group of guests for the hunting weekend:

Rear Admiral Chunas Korg and a friend he had stated in advance that he would bring.

This friend, whom Klein knew, but not Dawn Dantes, was the steam-powered car tycoon, Flammy Cage, the main investor in the pedal car project, who had bought an extra 10% of the shares from Sherlock Moriarty at a low price, relying on a lawyer who looked like “The Lawyer”.

Since it’s related to the “lawyer”, it’s understandable that he’s friends with the “Fallen Earl”……. Klein smiled and went forward, hugging Major General Chunas and Flammy Cage respectively:

  ”Welcome.”

He then stepped back and addressed Flammie, who was a quarter Forsak blood, tall and fat with very pale blue eyes:

”I’ve heard you’re famous for your steam-powered cars, why haven’t you driven over here?”

Before Flammy could answer, the hardened-looking Chunas Korg had smiled and spoken:

”No, you don’t know him; he doesn’t miss any opportunity to show off his steam-powered car.

”But that car was so heavy that on the way here it got stuck in the mud and couldn’t be pulled out, and fortunately for me, I never believed in his way of doing things, and took the wagon myself and followed, or he would have had to walk the rest of the way on his legs.”

”The main problem is that our roads are so bad, that they need to be refurbished, they need to be rebuilt, just like a steam train needs its tracks laid!” Flammy retorted, spreading his hands at Klein, “I was looking for some investment from you, haha, more on that later.”

In the past, it was you who invested in us, but now you are looking for me to ask for investment …… Klein realized one thing profoundly, and that was that he was considered quite a famous rich man in the upper echelons of the kingdom!

Another donation of shares worth more than 10,000 pounds, another purchase of an expensive manor, and the establishment of a link with the military, at a glance, it is very rich!

But in reality, my current total assets are only 50,000 to 60,000 gold pounds, which is probably only a tenth of Ms. Justice’s wealth …… I don’t know when I’ll be able to become a multi-millionaire with a million pounds in my pocket… …Klein said with a little thought as he laughed to himself:

”That’s okay, I’m interested in the combination of machinery and steam, I can take a look at your steam-powered car sometime.”

”Very good.” Flammy laughed instantly, “If I didn’t know that you donated a great deal of wealth to the Church of Darkness, I would have thought that you were a believer in steam.”

After all, he had once painted the triangular holy emblem on his chest …… Klein didn’t continue what he had just said, so as not to let Qunas find out his intentions.

He pointed to the stairway and said:

”How about going to the smoking room to try the cigars collected here?

”Until I bought this manor, I didn’t know that there was a special room built for storing cigars, constant temperature, constant humidity, but, as you know, I can smoke, but I don’t love it.”

”Not bad, any ‘Chiefs’?” A smile appeared on the face of Chunas Korg.

”Sure.” Klein replied in the affirmative.

He actively held hunting activities with one main purpose, which was to hunt this MI9 Major General Deputy Director, so all aspects were taken into consideration for the other party’s preferences.

However, Klein was not so eager that he had to make a move on this hunt, because he still lacked sufficient understanding of Chunas Kolge, who had hidden his demi-god strength, and still had to grasp the other party’s behavioral preferences, level of vigilance, and belongings from one party to another, from one hunt to the next.

As a “magician”, Klein does not perform without preparation!

  ……

  Inside a house in Chorwood.

Forsyth put down the book in his hand, looked at Hugh who was walking around the living room, and couldn’t help but ask:

  ”What’s bothering you?”

Hugh glanced at her and said:

”I’m worrying whether to immediately inform MI9 of Viscount Stepford’s close connection with a strange woman, or to conceal it until there are further developments.”

”Why conceal it?” Forsyth first asked rhetorically, and then whirled to make his own answer, “Viscount Stafford is related to your father,’s death, but you usually don’t have the opportunity or strength to confront him, and you’re afraid of being exposed because of that, affecting your mother and brother, and right now, there’s a possibility that he’s in a better state of being dealt with because of the accident that befell the strange woman, and that’s your chance, so you hesitated, didn’t you? ”

Hugh said after a moment of silence:

  ”Yes.”

Forsyth closed his book, stared into his friend’s eyes, and said earnestly:

”Since you hesitated, it means that you are already inclined inside.”

  Hugh nodded slowly:

  ”Yes.”

Forsyth gathered his long, slightly curled hair, stood up, and held out his right hand, saying:

”I already know what you’ve decided, well, do you need any help?”

Seeing Hugh hesitate to make a reply, she let out a laugh and said:

  ”I’m a Sequence 6 Extraordinary Oh!”

Without waiting for Hugh to say anything, she glanced around again:

”If you’re unsure, we can still seek additional help.”

Her implication was that she was looking for members to help at the Tarot.

Hugh thought for a moment and exhaled:

”Not for now, let’s both make an attempt to, uh, get out of the house now and keep monitoring Viscount Sturford.”

”Now?” Folth froze for a moment, “Alright, but before that, I’ll do a horoscope with my crystal ball to confirm the level of danger.”

After some hectic work, she held the pristine crystal ball in one hand and said:

”There is a certain level of danger.”
