Part 6 Lightseeker Chapter 37 Changes
Hearing the Captain’s command, Nina bristled and pointed out the window:
”Is any of Frank’s experiments not strange?”
…… Gadelia couldn’t even retort for a moment, so she sighed and said:
”If there are signs of danger, write to me immediately.”
As an “Occultist”, she also had her own messenger.
”Okay.” Nina puffed out her chest and said, “Who asked me to be the most mature and stable one on the ‘Future’?”
With that said, she asked with slight curiosity:
”Captain, what are you doing in Rune? Taking on any missions? To do behind enemy lines sabotage?”
Nina had Forsak blood, and Gadelia counted as half-Intis, and would naturally have some inclination in this recent war, which was why Nina speculated if the Captain had established contact with Intelligence in Intis.
”…… Sort of.” “Above the stars will be,” Gadelia replied with a tight-lipped voice.
In a sense, Nina’s guess wasn’t wrong; she had indeed taken on a mission to do damage in the Ruin capital of Berkland, only instead of the official forces, the target was the cultists.
Moreover, there is still a chance to see the Queen, she should not have left Bekrand yet, at the earliest after the New Year …… Thinking of this, Gadelia was suddenly a little excited.
Since leaving the “Dawn”, she has not really met with the “Mysterious Queen”, but only have letters, or on the same ship, but because of various reasons no communication.
Nina did not dare to ask, pointed to the door and said:
”Captain, is there anything else? We’ll go out if there isn’t.”
”Star Admiral” Gadelia nodded, signaling that the captain of the “Future Ship” could leave with her subordinates.
Just as Nina was gripping the handle and gently twisting it, Guardia suddenly remembered something and was busy calling out:
”Nina.”
”Huh?” Nina, whose blonde hair was tied into a high ponytail, turned her head with a “confused” expression.
”Don’t drink too much!” “Star above will,” Gadelia emphasized seriously, “I’ll let you drink well when I get back to the ship.”
Nina burst into a charming smile:
”Deal!”
After a moment’s thought, Gadelia added an admonition:
”In addition to Frank, you should also keep an eye on Heath’s state, don’t let him get curious about unknown voices, don’t get too tired, and pull Ottoloff out of his room often to control how often and how much he’s exposed to occult knowledge, and …… ”
”I know, I know, I don’t know them well enough?” Nina waved her hand in agreement.
Only when the sailor-master and her subordinates left the captain’s room, closing the door behind them with a smooth hand, did Gadria cast her eyes out the window, gazing out over the currently unseen Berkland.
After a few minutes, she drew one of the tarot cards from her hand.
It depicted an old man with a glass lamp and a walking stick, groping in solitude.
The “Hermit” card.
……
Late at night, Birkeland, Queens, at the Earl of Hall’s house.
Audrey, dressed in a white gown, suddenly opens her eyes, takes a blue cloak, and drapes it over her body.
She then rolled out of bed and walked to the full-length mirror in the room, scrutinizing herself with the help of the scarlet moonlight that shone through the curtains:
The turquoise, jewel-like eyes seemed to glow on their own, glistening and clear, allowing one to see every detail clearly.
Audrey closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, all abnormalities had disappeared.
The corners of her mouth quirked up a little, her cheeks protruding into shallow hollows, her brows curving slightly, her eyes turning lightly as she mentally whispered a word of praise to herself:
”Audrey, you’ve finally come this far~!”
She had completely digested the “Dreamwalker” magic potion.
According to Audrey’s own grasp and prediction, she thought that she would finish digesting the magic potion after February, but who knew that during this period of time, she had encountered a number of strange and completely different dreams in a row.
This includes multiple dreams, dreams caused by mental illness, lucid dreams, dreams generated by the influence of evil spirits and ghosts, and the dreams of several demigods.
Under normal circumstances, Audrey, as a “dream walker”, could generally judge which level of beings the dream she was about to enter belonged to, to avoid encountering dangers, but those demigods were so well hidden that Audrey didn’t find out what was going on until she entered their dream worlds, and was shocked.
Fortunately, she wasn’t discovered several times, but instead accumulated experience, and instead greatly digested the magic potion by carefully traveling, touring, observing, and analyzing in the demigods’ dream world.
In addition, the rest of the special dreams gave her a whole different experience, and after that, she had tried to construct multiple dreams on her own, and she had tried to hide behind the curtains in the dreams, skillfully guiding the development, interfering with the subconscious mind in a reverse way, and curing the dream owner’s mental illnesses or exorcising the contamination brought about by the evil spirits’ grudges.
This was somehow against her self-imposed requirement of only observing and recording, not interfering, but it strangely accelerated the digestion of the magic potion.
It made her summarize a new code:
”…… If you do want to interfere, be the schemer behind the scenes, the guide, even if the purpose has been accomplished and no one notices.”
This, Audrey did so well that those with more serious mental illnesses were unconsciously cured after five or six slightly odd dreams.
And it was perfectly normal for a dream to seem peculiar and difficult to understand.
”To be able to digest the ‘Dreamwalker’ magic potion so quickly, this period of time’s luck played a major factor, without so many unique experiences, I would definitely have had to wait for another month or two, well, maybe I would have even been captured by the demigods and thrown inside the prison that holds the extraordinary, or killed directly …… When did my luck become so good start? It started when I sacrificed ice cream to that Angel of the Domain of Fate, of the Favored One …… Well ……” Audrey looked at herself in the mirror and blinked with a light smile.
She quickly withdrew her gaze and swept around the bedroom, striding over to the dresser.
There lay a deck of tarot cards.
It was fairly normal to have a deck of tarot cards in the room of a young girl who was into the occult.
Audrey stretched out her right hand, touched the top card with her fingertips, inhaled slowly, and muttered wordlessly to herself:
”The battle in the Amanda Mountains is getting more and more intense ……
”A harbor has already been lost in Mesopotamia County ……
”The defense of the Honachis Mountains in West Vilas County is said to have failed to support the spring ……
”If the war at sea hadn’t taken hold, the link with East Byron on the southern continent would surely have been cut off ……
”Alfred is still there ……
”There is no telling how far this war will go.
”Fortunately, I’m close to becoming a demigod, and Mr. ‘World’ has already given me the ‘Manipulator’ magic potion formula and the main ingredients …… Seven Different Humans Tears produced by strong emotions have also been collected through the dream experience during this time ……
”The golden leaves of the Tree Man Mentor were traded from the little ‘sun’, and all that’s missing is the blood of the Elderly Mind Gargoyle ……
”Phew, try trading from the Psychic Alchemy Society, I was head of a psychic seminar group before Hwyn Lambeth’s death …… But will this reveal that I had something to do with Hwyn Lambeth’s death?
”Or, perhaps, ask Mr. ‘World’ to summon a copy of the blood of an older psychic dragon from history? This will last for at least a quarter of an hour, and when I’ve successfully promoted, collected my psychic nature, and completed my self-suggestion, its disappearance won’t cause much of an impact, after all, it’s just a secondary material ……
”Audrey, you’ve even learned to fake, and still in this kind of thing!”
After laughing to herself, Audrey began to think about what kind of occasion she should use to complete the “Manipulator” promotion ceremony.
It was necessary to take the magic potion in a specific place with at least 10,000 people, in the great resonance of their emotions.
In a flash of thought, Audrey had a preliminary idea:
”The Goddess’s Winter Rite Day?
”But even the largest mass can hold less than 10,000 people …… The church can’t be crowded with that many people ……
”Well, that’s not possible during the week, but this time there’s an opportunity for me to make a donation and propose a mega Mass in a place like Remembrance Day Square to appease the souls of those who died in the war.
”The main one, that square, invites the families, relatives and friends of the dead and wounded, as long as they make up a certain percentage, the emotional resonance generated will be able to influence the other people participating in the mass, thus fulfilling the requirements of the ceremony ……”
After calmly analyzing the situation, Audrey suddenly looked down and looked at the mirror on the dresser, only to see that the light smile on her pretty face had long since disappeared, leaving only a surface calm and the sadness flowing under her eyes.
She gazed at herself and whispered with the corners of her mouth slightly upturned:
”Audrey, you’ve gotten mean too ……”
Closing her eyes, Audrey was back to normal when she opened them again.
She reached her hand to the stack of tarot cards on the dresser and turned over the top one.
The card depicted a goddess of justice sitting in a stone chair, sword in one hand and scales in the other, watching everything with cold indifference.
……
Inside a house with a fireplace in the Hilston district, Birkeland.
”Are you done digesting your ‘Records Officer’ magic potion?” Hugh had just changed into his household clothes and walked back into the living room when she heard the news that left her in disbelief.
Forsyth nodded with a haggard look on his face:
”Uh-huh.
”Do you have any idea what kind of life I’ve been living all this time?”
While being forced to “travel” to six places in a row, day and night, experiencing, appreciating and documenting, while at the same time being dragged up to the Gray Mist from time to time to “document” all sorts of extraordinary abilities, either strange or high-level.
The original “Lightning Storm” and “Historical Aperture Image Summoning” have been replaced many times, and only today was the original configuration restored.
”I don’t know ……,” Hugh responded honestly.
”I know you don’t know.” Forsyth took a deep breath and said, “What about you? How have you been doing lately?”
”Not too bad, got placed in the Court of Unusual Affairs, got some play ideas, and the magic potion digestion is starting to speed up.” Hugh said with a “hmm”.
”I’m having a hard time picturing you in your judge’s robes, sitting up there judging.” Forsyth gave a heartfelt sigh of relief.
”Are you trying to say that the prisoners and lawyers won’t see me?” Hugh didn’t mind at all adding helpfully to his friend.
Folth said with a couple of dry chuckles:
”I’m going to prepare for the ‘Traveler’ promotion ceremony after a break.”
”Aren’t we going to the depths of the Spirit World? You have a way?” Hugh asked rather puzzled.
Voorhees nodded and said:
”That one asked me to summon his messenger.”
