Chapter 448: The Same Old Story
Even though Matsui Natsuki was heartbroken, he could only admit it, after all, it was money all spent and bought. Knowing for herself, returning it was something impossible.
She undeniably an objective reality, not only walking feel light with the wind, but also people have become more confident than before this a lot.
This kind of intangible self-feeling change for the better, not without reason. It is true that brand-name products can give ordinary people more confidence. Probably, that’s where the magic lies!
What kind of people does it tend not to work on? For one thing, people who are already strong. Such people are not easily compelled by the external environment, especially the publicity of goods. Their value is not to rely on some external items to carry a set off.
The second is the habitual people. A small group of people who are naturally wealthy will not take things that are considered commonplace as a matter of course. Just as the average Japanese person would consider a meal of meat as a toothpick?
The third group of people are those who regard money as dirt, like a crane. They don’t care what others think of them. As long as they are comfortable.
Even if they are naked and wearing nothing, it’s still their own business. Or to fluff up one’s hair and give the onlookers an air of decadence, that was equally one’s own thing.
Matsui Natsuki along with Miyazaki Ryui was walking into a high-class French Western restaurant in Ginza. As soon as the two of them entered, a waitress came forward to greet them with a professional smile.
“Excuse me, do you have a reservation?” The waitress was completely following the established work flow.
Miyazaki Ryui succinctly said, “Yes.”
“May I ask your name?” The waitress was still advancing step by step in a relatively stereotypical manner.
“Miyazaki.” Miyazaki Ryui blurted out.
“Mr. Miyazaki, right! A window seat was reserved for you a long time ago. Please, the two of you this way.” The waitress said as she gestured a direction with her right hand.
Miyazaki Ryui and Matsui Natsuki went in the direction she pointed. Matsui Natsuki’s immediate feeling was as if he was living in a dream.
She was just an ordinary girl. Even if she had fantasized about this way of life, it was only a fantasy.
She wouldn’t have thought that she would really be able to live it one day. Even if she was dreaming, she would not want to wake up from such a beautiful dream.
The two of them sat down facing each other left and right. Matsui Natsuki flipped through the recipe, but she couldn’t see any pictures in Japanese. Although she knew the names of some French dishes, she had acquired the knowledge from movies and TV dramas.
As for whether it was good or not, she had never really eaten a decent French meal herself. The so-called French food she had eaten in Aomori in the past was all in vain.
“You order!” Matsui Natsuki, in order not to make a fool of herself, then looked to Miyazaki Ryui, who was sitting across from her, and said.
“Just serve us your restaurant’s nine-course signature set menu. And open a bottle of Paris Flower’s golden champagne.” Without flipping through the menu, Miyazaki Ryui directly ordered his meal and said.
The waitress smiled and responded with a ‘please wait’, turned around and left. Not long after, she brought the champagne and opened it in front of the guests.
“With a bang, the cork on the top of the champagne popped open. With skillful movements, she removed the cork from the top of the bottle and smoothly placed it inside the pocket of her white apron in front of her.
She held the white cloth in one hand and the champagne in the other as she poured one by one for the guests. After each pour, she would wipe the underside of the bottle’s mouth with the white dishcloth before pouring again.
“Please enjoy your meal, both of you.” The waitress put down the champagne on the tabletop and said.
After the words, she turned away once again. Not too long after Miyazaki Ryui and Matsui Natsuki raised their glasses and drank, the first appetizer was served to her. One was placed in front of Matsui Natsuki and the other in front of Miyazaki Ryui.
Matsui Natsuki held a dinner knife in one hand and a fork in the other, displaying that sense of ritual before a Japanese meal and said, “I’m going to start.”
She took one bite and then blurted out again, “Yummy.”
Miyazaki Ryui held a champagne glass in his right hand and said, “I’m glad you like it. It’s not a bad setting here, is it?”
“The environment is good. It’s think the price won’t be cheap.” Matsui Natsuki blurted out.
“You’re still the same, you haven’t changed. Back in the day, that time in our high school days, choosing between romance and affordability, you would always choose the latter.” Miyazaki Ryui recalled.
“Thank you for giving me a wonderful memory.” Natsuki Matsui said with a slight smile.
“I should be the one thanking you.” Miyazaki Ryui said seriously.
“Today, I’m really happy. If it wasn’t because of you, I would never have had the chance to experience something like this in my life.” Matsui Natsuki said with feeling.
Of course Miyazaki Ryui understood the misery of not having money. He had experienced it himself. The good thing about having money lies in its own ability to allow for more and better choices, rather than belonging to a kind of helplessness and compulsion in the midst of life.
“The small ticket that you bought something at Chanel, give it to me when you go back. When I say I’m giving you a gift, I’m giving you a gift, how can I make you spend money?” Miyazaki Ryui said bluntly.
“It really doesn’t have to be. Even I myself feel incredibly surprised that I was able to splurge so much for once. Even if I was a bit impulsive, I was able to leave a different memory amongst the memories.” Matsui Natsuki did not sympathize and said.
“If you have to be so insistent, then I really won’t insist.” Miyazaki Ryui didn’t want to dwell endlessly with her over this one small matter.
He was acting out of good intentions, but if the other party didn’t accept it, there was nothing he could do about it. He was never going to go so far as to beg the other party to accept it.
“Just this small half day has really made me feel the difference between Tokyo and Aomori in a tangible way. The people here are realistic, while our people there are rich in human kindness.” Matsui Natsuki voiced a bit of his feelings and said.
“For you to be able to have such an outlook, that means you have great insight. In fact, if you live in Tokyo for a long time, you will slowly adapt to some of this.
There are both many opportunities and challenges here in Tokyo. Will it work? It’s mostly a matter of personal ability and spirit of struggle, as well as good luck at critical moments.
At the very least, you’ll have opened your eyes by coming out to see it. If you really can’t get used to it, you can still go back to Aomori.
However, most people just can’t stay and can’t go back. Fate is something that no one can penetrate.” Miyazaki Ryui spoke eloquently.
Matsui Natsuki smiled knowingly and said, “You’re concerned about me?”
“I am afraid that you will go astray. You have to know that one in twenty women in Japan are working in jobs related to the custom industry.” Miyazaki Ryui said with concern.
