Chapter 1691 Even the Triple Entente
Margaret Thatcher’s wording would be fine for a memoir, or in a document, but for a conversation it’s acidic.
At this point, Alan Wilson wants a word from the Prime Minister, who has just been hit hard by a close ally, on whether to do whatever it takes to prevent German reunification from becoming a reality. Anything else was a windfall.
“Of course.” Margaret Thatcher organized her wording, “Even if the Germans want to bar Germany to be placed in the midst of a; federal Europe, I think that’s wrong. Because a reunited Germany is simply too big and powerful to simply be another player within Europe. Further, the Germans have always had their eyes on the east and the west, even though the modern way in which this tendency is manifested is through their economic expansion rather than territorial aggression. In this way, by its very nature, Germany was a destabilizing force in Europe. Only the military and political involvement of the United States in Europe and the close relationship between Britain and France, the other two most powerful sovereigns in Europe, can balance Germany’s power.”
“The U.S. can’t help, Kohl just has to make sure he doesn’t dare to walk away from the garrison, why should the U.S. object? As for the Soviet Union, the Soviet garrison are beginning to withdraw.”
Alan Wilson blandly doused Mrs. Thatcher’s delusions about the role of the United States and sneered, “It seems that at the Brussels conference, President Bush’s statement was not direct enough, and the statement that Germany is Europe’s leading partner, if the British Prime Minister can’t comprehend the meaning of that statement, I would suggest that there be an early general election.”
Margaret Thatcher bit her lip lightly, but rarely did she contradict the man in front of her, because President Bush’s words did stimulate him too much, it can be said that all of her diplomatic concepts were turned upside down by the American statement, “Are you laughing at me now, as the British Prime Minister was slapped in the face by the Americans.”
“Every Prime Minister who has championed the special relationship between the UK and the US has had such a process, you were lucky to run into Reagan. From the very beginning, I knew this day was coming sooner or later.”
Alan Wilson replied lightly, “Now it’s just proving that you’re no exception. It’s good, though, that there’s no garrison on the main mainland, which prevents it from having a decisive influence on domestic politics.”
“Whether or not it can prevent German reunification, mainly depends on the attitude of European countries, the United States and the Soviet Union are not counted on, the Soviet Union under the leadership of the stupid, the United States eyes the Soviet Union now, began to support Germany to balance the influence of the United Kingdom, so the United Kingdom to choose an ally, can only look for European countries. Of course, I don’t think any of this is nearly enough.”
“It’s time for us to develop a diplomatic strategy on how to stop it by assuming the outcome of German unification, and in this case, Britain’s allies are European countries, even including the GDR. As long as Germany won’t unify, the Unified Socialist Party of Germany, could just as easily be Britain’s ally.”
“You’re right, but the GDR?” Mrs. Thatcher then slowed down and asked, “So? What are you going to do?”
“We can even be friends with the GDR, and I will visit Berlin, the real German capital, if necessary.” Alan Wilson made no secret of his purpose, it was worth Britain’s fire in the matter of German unification.
“Of course there are other ways that might be untenable, such as spreading anxiety to the citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany that the economies of the two countries are too different from each other, and so on. But Kohl should be able to defuse such tricks.”
“Now we need the promise of Maphead, but don’t get your hopes up, he really is a fool and not to be expected, meanwhile I believe Mitterrand is on our side.”
Alan Wilson ferried back and forth, “In short, since the Prime Minister is determined to prevent German unification, the most appropriate ally is France, and there is another very crucial country that can never be ignored, that is the GDR, we must admit one thing, there will not be a ruling party that is willing to give up the power, not even in the UK, you created such a large unemployed population, and made the major problems with law and order in Britain, isn’t it also to dismantle the trade union power of the Labor Party?”
The Unified Socialist Party of Germany is absolutely unwilling to give up the ruling regime, this Alan Wilson can be convinced, now if the Soviet Union is not willing to support, Britain can even become an ally of this ruling party of the GDR, which is also to give Bush statement Germany is the leading partner of Europe counterattack.
“What? You don’t dare?” Alan Wilson looked Mrs. Thatcher straight in the eye, and the latter’s gaze became firm, “It’s also time for everyone to know that Britain’s voice cannot be ignored.”
Obviously this statement, a retort to the neglect of Margaret Thatcher by the leaders of the other countries at the summit that had just ended, Alan Wilson then spoke up, “I think I can visit Berlin, we all recognize that the GDR was founded with more legalistic reasoning than the FRG.”
As the Stasi’s leader, Markus Wolff, said, “Any German who did not act to stop the National Socialist Party from coming to power and waging wars of aggression was responsible for the war crimes of the Third Reich. Such profound insights, however, were at the time little more than a rhetorical exercise. It won little praise and was attacked and ranted against at an unknown level.”
Coincidentally, the leaders of the GDR also happened to be the ones who were imprisoned in concentration camps and forced into exile “for having acted to stop the National Socialist Party and the war of aggression”.
Just as we brought down hostile politicians or high-ranking officials by exposing their Third Reich history, the West Berlin Committee of Free Lawyers, an anti-communist organization of lawyers who had fled the GDR, did the same by publishing lists of East German officials who hid their history as members of the National Socialist Party.
With almost all of the GDR’s top intelligence officers and political leaders in exile or underground during the Third Reich, the GDR easily won the propaganda war.
“Can I rely on the Prime Minister for communication with the French side? If I can, then I’ll go straight to Berlin.” Alan Wilson opened his mouth to ask a question, he now had to know what Margaret Thatcher really thought.
“I’m just afraid that Mitterrand won’t dare to do it.” Mrs. Thatcher opened her mouth, after all, France and Germany are both countries on the European continent, and it has always been France that pulls Germany in to check Britain.
In this world is even more so, because Britain’s strength has always been so much higher than that of France, and this decade Mrs. Thatcher has constantly advocated a special relationship between Britain and the United States.
This led Mitterrand to see Mrs. Thatcher, who was constantly getting closer to the United States, as almost a fifth column in Mitterrand’s eyes.
So the Anglo-French relationship over the past ten years has been one in which Margaret Thatcher has continued to deepen the special relationship with the United States, and Mitterrand has continued to unite with Germany in defense of the United Kingdom’s efforts to mess up Europe.
Who is to blame, Alan Wilson how many times reminded Mrs. Thatcher, now this lack of trust between Britain and France, is not Mrs. Thatcher herself caused it.
He was not polite, directly open, the lack of trust between Britain and France is Mrs. Thatcher’s too obvious pro-US rhetoric caused.
After counting, Allen Wilson turned the tables, “But I still believe that in this matter Mitterrand nonetheless reliable, even more reliable than some domestic politicians.”
He seems to be remembering that Mitterrand in Germany has been exposed to the idea of unification when Mitterrand even had the idea of restarting the Triple Entente.
In fact, on the matter of German unification, Britain and France, although the attitude is the same, but the means are still different, Margaret Thatcher is unabashedly trying to stop Germany, Mitterrand is secretly co-opted, and is even ready to completely reconcile with the Soviet Union, to re-establish the Triple Entente, and to suppress the pace of Germany’s unification with military force.
But apparently both countries are too much trust in the Soviet Union, the head of the map of the Soviet Union did not react at all, now it depends on the world more than one chip of the British and French can play a big role.
After some compulsion from men with important roles in their life course, Margaret Thatcher managed to find the key to unite Europe, and Alan Wilson entered the Federal Republic of Germany, and it was not easy to come to a trip, of course, to see him as a good son of the commander of the 7th Armored Division.
Bielefeld was the British First Army Command, and as divisional commander of the 7th Armored Division under his command, Albert also resided there, and when Alan Wilson arrived, the Army’s rising star, appeared straight away wanting to know what instructions his father had.
“Not much in the way of instructions, it’s harder to get promoted at your age.” Doesn’t Allen Wilson know what his wilting bad son wants?
He also wanted to but really can not do, now can do the seventh armored division, are his own meal of high-tech conditions of local war to the establishment of the persona, but also pushed the good elder son to the battlefield of the Falkland Islands.
“Father, look at what you said, in fact, am I not for the betterment of society?” Albert was poked and prodded in his heart, but did not feel the slightest bit embarrassed, opened his mouth and said that he was indifferent to fame and fortune, but only because of his innate loyalty to the country and his talent, which could not really be covered up, he had come to this point today.
Alan Wilson stretched out his finger to point and the eldest son of the richest woman offhandedly said, “If you had shown the kind of talent that you have today, I would have pulled you into Whitehall a long time ago. As a result you had to join the army.”
Albert was a little embarrassed, he did prefer Marshal Mountbatten’s line and opened his mouth to reassure, “It wasn’t a bad thing, in fact Arnold performed just as well. By the way, why did father want to get up and visit me this time?”
“That is, by the way, I’m going to West Berlin.” Alan Wilson pondered for a second, and decided that it was better not to tell his son about the matter of having to make a secret visit to the GDR, to be a soldier and do a good job as a soldier, and not to ask about other things.
A day later, Alan Wilson, who had already appeared in West Berlin, passed through a checkpoint controlled by the British garrison in West Berlin at nightfall and entered the territory of the GDR. On the opposite side, diplomats from the British Embassy in the GDR, were already waiting there.
