Chapter 425 Reminding the Americans (Soviets)
Several eye-catching ladies strolled along the shoreline. The sparkling, brooding turquoise-blue sea was beneath their feet; above them were patches of white clouds and a clear sky.
The waves glistened with shimmering light. There’s a lot of fun to be had walking along the beach, a lot of games to be played – one can walk hand in hand in a crooked windmill, doing one’s best to keep one’s balance; or one can just look directly at the shore to see if there are any gifts from nature.
Of course Allen Wilson was far from the real ocean, and at best he could pretend that he had seen the waves of the sea by some puddle, and it was nearing the month of May, and the climate of Newfoundland, at least in the south, was good enough to enjoy a vacation.
Newfoundland because of the undeveloped relationship on the island would have been a lot of wetlands, for the individual of course there is a certain degree of danger, so the Chinese workers who logged on the island, but also received a warning to pay attention to safety in the wilderness, to prevent the disappearance of life and death.
In fact, Alan Wilson’s hometown in his previous life, there are many wetlands, invisible traps are not uncommon, but later were developed into farmland, and naturally in want to see the wetlands, you have to go to the reserve.
Newfoundland can be regarded as a large nature reserve, there are many lakes on the island, it is not necessary to play in the water on the other side of the sea.
“So you’re so timid!” Ingrid Bergman joked as she saw the trip go from the sea to a lake, wearing a conservative swimsuit that flattered the man with her superior figure.
“It’s human instinct to avoid harm, in fact I’m not timid in every way, I was still very bold in New Delhi.” Alan Wilson spoke in disbelief, but his eyes couldn’t help but go into perspective, seeming to be able to see through the obstructive clothing to Ingrid Bergman’s inner beauty.
“Vivian is right there, and you’re still so dishonest.” Ingrid Bergman raised an eyebrow and gestured at the lake Vivienne, revealing a mouthful of white teeth and said, “She really don’t even know what kind of bad luck she’s fallen into, she’s so bent on loving you.”
“Is it bad luck to be with me? There will come a day when you will envy her, among the world’s two and a half billion, found the heavenly treasure, what kind of luck is this.” Ellen Wilson pinched her hands on her waist, a look that can give me a bad bull, “Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance, when the time comes to give me an illegitimate child or something, like you, it’s a limited quota thing.”
“You shameless bastard.” Ingrid Bergman couldn’t stand the man’s boasting and went straight after him to get the man to sober up.
Instead of sobering up, Alan Wilson became even more giddy, “Ingrid, you should go play women’s rugby. I must be your biggest fan.”
What’s the point of a pair of grown men crashing over each other for nothing, it’s only interesting to see a woman who was born to carry the ball over the top do so.
“I suffocate you with my ball.” Ingrid Bergman was enraged by this kind of blabbering, didn’t they say the British were gentlemen? Now it seemed worthy of the American ancestor, the so-called gentlemen were after the pants were up.
“What are you doing?” Vivienne noticed the noise over here and turned around and shouted in a questioning tone, “The water is clear, don’t you want to come over for a walk?”
Alan Wilson walked over, not scared at all. Everyone had been wearing clothes that allowed them to go into the water, because until just now they had been out catching crabs. Allen Wilson jumped in, as he was worried that the splash would be too loud.
He slowly dove down, his eyes wide open, seeing only the blue color reflected off the bottom of the lake. His pink palms were like goldfish. It was different here than under the ocean water, where it was all indeterminate shades of black and green.
“What’s wrong?” Vivienne swam around like a mermaid and returned to the man’s side to inquire.
“My own philosophy tells me never to go into waters taller than my own height.” Alan Wilson reasoned, “Truth be told, I don’t know how to swim, and that’s where this conversation ends.”
The real reason it ended here was that he felt that the current circumstances made it easy for Vivien Leigh to ask that classic question, the one about who to save first, so it was incumbent upon him to tear himself away from the subject and carry it all by himself.
In the intervening days, the little lake and the nearby forest were as lively as a marketplace, and then Alan Wilson took several of his honored Newfoundland guests to the nearest settlement to continue the introduction of the local customs to deepen their impressions.
In the bushes and woods beyond the mountain paths, homes with cows, farmers with goats and loose geese abounded. What’s more.
Everywhere, the thicker the woods, the more fat bulls and big-bellied cows, who didn’t know where to step on the steep slopes. The goats were in a much better position, being able to walk without weight, and to nibble at the bark of trees as they went.
This was the real situation in some of the settlements in Newfoundland, but even then the Newfoundlanders felt that life was not good.
Part of the reason Alan Wilson came to these settlements was to find out what the citizens of Newfoundland outside of the capital city of St. John’s needed, after all, he didn’t want the 400,000+ square kilometers of land, to be part of Canada.
To be fair he had no preconceived notions about Canada, but it wasn’t a matter of preconceived notions, even deep feelings can fade, and while Canada was certainly more emotionally inclined towards the UK, the problem was that right now the US was stronger than the UK.
Geographically, the world after two world wars is still too strong for the UK to do so.
Even if Newfoundland were to be given to Canada, there would ultimately be little left to gain except for the loss of the autonomous territory, which is currently still deeply emotionally attached to the UK, and it wouldn’t do Newfoundland any favors either, and the locals would regret it later once control of Newfoundland’s fishing grounds was lost.
As the current administrator of Newfoundland, Allen Wilson guaranteed that the current financial surplus of Newfoundland would take care of every Newfoundland citizen, there was no doubt about it.
“It seems that some time will have to be taken to visit Labrador.” Allen Wilson asked himself, at the moment it seems that the tendency of the residents of Newfoundland is not a problem.
But that wasn’t all, there was still three quarters of Newfoundland on the North American continent called Labrador. Though upon hearing the name he was most impressed by Labradors.
Alan Wilson didn’t even know what the difference was between a Labrador and a Golden Retriever, but the two dogs are related. Just like the current Chicken of Tomorrow contest in the United States, the dog breeds created through artificial intervention breeding.
The inhabitants of Labrador, historically, have favored Canada a bit more than the inhabitants of Newfoundland. If Newfoundland was a stronghold against annexation to Canada, most residents of Labrador, were not averse to annexation to Canada.
Of course as long as Britain disagrees and reports Newfoundland down entirely, the problem is that Britain is very short-sighted when it comes to issues like this. Otherwise Alan Wilson wouldn’t be bothered by this.
The successive independence of India, Pakistan and Burma has forced Allen Wilson to paralyze himself by traveling.
He didn’t want to be in the same position as Mountbatten, but he wasn’t really British, and he didn’t look at the loss of territory with the same open-mindedness as the British themselves.
In his last life, he felt that the loss of land was unacceptable, and naturally, this thought has not changed much in this life.
If Allen Wilson knew the population of Labrador, he probably wouldn’t be worried. The point is that he didn’t know that Labrador’s population was only one-tenth that of Newfoundland.
All along he has been wishful thinking, more than 300,000 square kilometers of Labrador, how the population and Newfoundland’s own island not much, do not know the situation on the continent, but also ready to go in person.
Re-returned to St. John’s Allen Wilson, was always waiting Philby blocked a square, “People who do not know, but also thought that you took a few actresses eloped it.”
“So Philby do you believe that’s possible?” Alan Wilson opened his mouth unchanged face and asked, seeing the other party shaking his head before he breathed a sigh of relief, “That’s just it, these actresses have received widespread attention, and I’m taking them around to leave a good impression, so maybe I can publicize them properly when I get back to the United States.”
Overflowing with love for Newfoundland, Philby laughed bitterly, “Don’t you know that London is prepared to let Newfoundlanders decide their own future?”
Of course I know, that’s why I’m doing it, Alan Wilson coughed softly, still maintaining a basic level of vigilance over the Soviet spy in front of him, and inquired what was the matter with finding himself.
“London is set on negotiating with the Americans to cooperate in the field of intelligence.” Philby mused, “It’s necessary for you to know about this now that you’re the local administrator.”
“This year’s American election, from the current sound bites Dewey seems to be more dominant, the Republicans are quite vocal about the European aid program, shouldn’t we wait for the political situation in the US to clear up before we make a decision?” Alan Wilson dragged his chin with his hand and said, “If the Republican Party comes to power to terminate the aid program for Europe, we are not going to mention any cooperation.”
“This is only the first round of negotiations, the extent of cooperation in the future is of course still being considered.” Philby replied unhurriedly, “It is inevitable that we have to wait until the results of this election in the United States before deciding whether or not to carry out in-depth cooperation. London has its own considerations!”
London’s consideration was to send a Soviet spy to know about this matter? Alan Wilson believed without surprise in his heart that if Philby knew about this, the Kremlin must have known about it.
But? Alan Wilson pulled out the notes he was carrying, indicating that he was not doing nothing, he had not forgotten the work he had done during his stay in the United States, speaking from the perspective of the special relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, “If we want to defeat the Soviet Union, it is definitely necessary to gather the strength of the United Kingdom and the United States in order to be able to do it, we in the UK’s problems the United States can not help, and the United States of America’s problem is dependent on their own , but as allies, we have an obligation to remind each other.”
“Oh? What problems did Alan find with America?” Philby inquired with a wry smile, “The United States is so rich now that even we have to look up to the United States to help recover, how come I don’t see any problems at all?”
“There are some things that you won’t be able to draw conclusions from intelligence analysis alone without taking a look at them yourself.” Allen Wilson replied indifferently as he flipped through his notes.
Finally found it, it was the four-color threat jotted down at Greta Garbo’s home in the Big Apple, red for the Soviet Union, purple for homosexuality, black for racial issues, and pink for the feminist movement.
“Philby, the truth is that the Soviet Union, as our enemy, we have to recognize that in some areas they are very powerful. Otherwise we wouldn’t have joined forces with the Americans.” Alan Wilson intoned, “All of these issues can easily be exploited by the Soviets, one of which is the Soviet Union itself, and the other has the potential to be meddled with by the Soviet Union. In fact, the United States is now in the midst of public opinion preparations, and it is a matter of time before it will have to turn its back on the Soviet Union, but the United States may also have problems if these issues are not resolved.”
“In my opinion, the most long-term problem is blackness, or race. Past experience has shown that the more distressed the class the faster the population grows, and I, as a former British Indian official, have an absolute say in the matter. And in the United States the Negro class is growing much more rapidly than the whites.”
“The reason why the problem has been suppressed is because of the influx of European immigrants into the United States during the two world wars. And that’s no longer the case, and Americans have to solve the problem themselves.”
“That’s why I hope that Philby, when negotiating with the Americans, will warn our allies about these kinds of problems being exploited by the Soviets.”
With a stony face, Allen Wilson expressed his expectation that the United States would lead the free world to victory over the Soviet Union, and that imperial duty compelled him to help the United States, and possibly the Soviet Union as well!
“Wow!” Philby couldn’t help but marvel at the fact that he believed Allen Wilson was genuinely looking out for the United States.
A discussion was opened with Allen Wilson specifically for such issues, followed by a pat on the back that he would make sure to give the Americans a heads up at his own meeting and fulfill his duty as an ally to guard the entire free world.
“That couldn’t be better!” Alan Wilson said with a sense of relief, “If the United States can solve this problem on its own, the Soviet Union will surely not be able to do anything to the Americans.”
“We all hope that the Americans can solve these problems.” Philby nodded, indicating that he, too, recognized the rhetoric.
I believe the Kremlin approved even more! Alan Wilson mused in his mind.
And so the work on the four-color menace was left in the hands of the boss of the Cambridge Five, to be prompted by the other for the Americans.
If the Americans can solve this problem that is naturally the best, because it is less likely to use some means that are not on the stage. The more problems the U.S. has of its own, the less force it will have to intervene externally.
It would be better if the United States found out that there was Soviet influence in it, not only could it become more hostile to the Soviet Union, but it might also be able to come to some free shots, and in short, it would be no loss to Britain.
